1. ye lol, a few weeks ago i had a spriest pet walk through the wall to me and kill me, no bugs on icecrown btw.

  2. Really? Can you provide some evidence to back that up? Or show examples of what works better (PVP wise) on Icecrown than on Blackrock
Anytime I have reported a bug present on both core ( so icecrown and blackrock) Warmane Devs succesfully fix it on icecrown but they have never applied the same fix on Blackrock Core.
    a few examples:
    https://www.warmane.com/bugtracker/report/50888
    https://www.warmane.com/bugtracker/report/57109
    https://www.warmane.com/bugtracker/report/49827
https://www.warmane.com/bugtracker/report/49823 ( this bug is present only on Blackrock Core and it was ignored)

So, for a player interested into Arena is more convenient to keep playing on a Core which does not get updates to class bugs since 3 years and it will never get them in the future OR to play on a Core which gets Update fixes literally every Monday?

Plus, if a blackrock player will find some bugs on Icecrown Core he will be able to report them on bugtracker to get it fixed.
Righ now if a blackrock player reports a bug about spell/talents for Blackrock Core on Bugtracker it is totally ignored.

Lol they never fix anything on icecrown what are you talking about? They have not fixed death grip not gripping people in melee range for TWO YEARS.

  4. They have not fixed death grip not gripping people in melee range for TWO YEARS.
Ehm... that is how it works on Blackrock too.

I am not here to defend Dev and Q&A works but the fact they have not fixed it even tho reports has 50 vote does not make you understand they do not consider it a bug?
They are just waiting for someone to show a solid proof there were no minimum range during 3.3.5a.
The fact a Dev from Blizzard said "his was an unintended change as a result of a bug trying to fix something else. Death Grip won't change between 3.3.2 and 3.3.3." does not mean there has not been a change on 3.3.5 or 3.3.5a

Anyway within just 30 sec on YT I could find this video from retail:
https://youtu.be/BYK6OkFwbv8?t=4m16s At 4:18 DK presses Death Grip > nothing happens > "Target too close" at center of sceen
Video description: (This video was recorded before patch 4.0.1).

So the point of my post is that you need to find a video from Retail 3.3.5a (so, uploaded 7 years ago) where a DK successfully uses Death Grip on melee range.
I am trying to do it by my own, I have already watched more than 7 Videos, but it is not easy

  5. Will ilvl284 gear be free on blackrock ?

    No, it will not

Well if devs refuse to fix something that has no proof that it was ever 8 yard deadzone, I just quit playing DK in general. **** playing a class devs completely ignore fixing. I have played here for a pretty long time and I am tired of putting up with this bug.

  8. Well if devs refuse to fix something that has no proof that it was ever 8 yard deadzone
Are you trolling or what? Did you really read my post?

    1. https://youtu.be/BYK6OkFwbv8?t=4m16s (Retail 3.3.5a)
At 4:18 DK presses Death Grip > nothing happens > "Target too close" at center of screen

    2. https://youtu.be/ufVSmB_hH0s?t=4m25s
At 4:27 DK presses Death Grip > nothing happens > "Target too close" at center of screen

    3. http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=145367 (Retail 3.3.3a)
At 11:07 DK presses Death Grip > nothing happens > "Target too close" at center of screen

So, this is not enough to make you doubt "minimum range" is not a bug ? (at least on PvP)

Given also the context of the question GC happened to be answering when he said that, it's somewhat possible he just meant that the spell wouldn't change only in PVE. I remember coming across some comments that said the minimum range should only be 5 yards instead of the current 8. That might be plausible too.

  10. "Death Grip Change (8 yds Minimum?)
This was an unintended change as a result of a bug trying to fix something else. Death Grip won't change between 3.3.2 and 3.3.3.
    Ghostcrawler
    Lead Systems Designer"

Considering that fixes on retail bugs such as Molten Armor interaction with T9 2set bonus, Ignite Munching, and probably other stuff, in the name of better game expirience and improvement in technology, shouldnt Death Grip be fixed and enabled to grip people in melee range?

Spell itself has no text in it about any minimum range...

And, when u link videos make sure its patch 3.3.5a pls.

  11. The relevance of the pre-3.3.3 info comes in from the fact that Ghostcrawler doesn't explicitly describe Death Grip's intended functionality - he just states there won't be a change in the spell between 3.3.2 and 3.3.3.

A number of citations from this thread, as well as some of the video evidence posted above, strongly suggest Death Grip always had a minimum range.

i think this is just a tooltip update tbh
i've always had to be a bit away from something i wanted to dg
It is. You've never been able to DG from melee range and by melee range I mean sitting on somebody.
TOOLTIP UPDATE. NOTHING TO SEE HERE. MOVE ALONG.

If nothing else it makes me sad that all these DKs apparently never interrupt casts by running out of melee range.
i don't see a nerf. Atm you need >5y or so to interrupt a cast or so, nothing changes
You had to run out of meleerange to interrupt with deathgrip anyway, so nothing really changes in pvp. Its a pve Tank-DK nerf. Dunno why they did this since warriors basically get a taunt every gcd with vigilance.
any dk that doesn't realize we already had a minimum range is ******ed beyond belief
These are comments from 3rd March 2010 (3.3.2). Patch 3.3.3 hit live servers on 23rd March.

As to Ghostcrawler's quote, considering the fact that he was responding to a player that only cited PVE concerns, it's not outlandish to suggest that all he meant was that the spell's functionality wouldn't be altered in PVE, and that the unintended change he was talking about was the spell having a minimum range requirement in PVE on the PTR.

While it remains to be cleared up whether the minimum DG range was only 5 yards, or the full 8 yards, there is ample reason to believe there certainly always was a minimum range on PVP targets.
