Burning Crusade How Tamed Abilities work?

Hi. I'm still quite fresh to wow'n'stuff. I tamed my wolf pretty early (Mulgore). Do i need to get new pets over time, or can I update my DogWonDo to have higher lvl Bite or even Claw?
From http://www.gamershell.com/faqs/world...nterguide/3.3/ this guide it seems like by having other pets i should be able to teach my old pets new moves. Is it true? How long does it take to achieve that ability?

Im not sure about burning crusade but in wotlk the pet upgrades its abilities by itself as it levels up

yes you have to tame the pets with higher level abilities in order to get them to your pet ability book. Then you can train your old pet with the new abilities, if they can learn it. IE: wolf can learn bite but not scorpid poison and swain can learn charge but bird can not. I suggest using beast lore skill when encountering new beasts in order to see if they have new skills to learn.
