1. Looking to level a warrior, need help with 2 questions

    Which heirlooms should I buy?

And what's the best leveling spec?

  2. in my opinion, prot is the best leveling spec. all you need is a shield and after that you will get little to no damage. also, revenge hits a ton, same with sunder armor, and you wont rage starve.
once max lvl you can switch to whatever spec you see fit.
if you dont like prot tho i sugest going arms, since it needs less gear than a fury and recieves less damage

no do not listenn this guy.
fury 2handed till 40 then dual wield to level 80 is the fastest warr spec thanks to high dps output and mobility (improved intercept)

  4. Personally I like protection in leveling too. I can pull a lot of mobs in same time when it is needed. Also, prot is better in wpvp than fury. So you will die lesser. Also, you will be able to get into dungeons quicker as there aren't many tanks. more dungeons, a hell ton of **** more xp.

Guys, don't listen to this Asherdoom. His comment is viable in Cata neltharion...

  5. Prot levelling is the best answer as you can keep doing RDF as a tank and get gears + XP + friends while doing so. As a DPS you probably have less chance to do many rdfs.

    You are wrong.
Mobility wise, nothing can beat a protection warrior. With the Warbringer talent you can use Charge, Intercept and Intervene in any stance (so you will not even need a stancedance macro) while being in combat. You have a higher survivability (you take less damage on Defensive Stance and you can use your defensive cooldowns without switching stance or the need to equip your shield, since you are already using it) and at the lower lvls Revenge hits really hard because of its additional damage. With the Improved Revenge talent, it's also really useful to aoe down a pack of mobs. You have an additional defensive cooldown (Last Stand) and while progressing trough the talent tree, you get even two additional stuns (Consussion Blow and Shockwave), the second one even being a frontal cone aoe stun. Finally, playing a tank role, you will easily find a free spot on the dungeon finder while leveling.

Even Arms is a better dps spec to level up than Fury, since you have more aoe abilities (Sweaping Strikes and Bladestorm), you take less damage, especially while using your offensive cooldowns (both Death Wish and Recklessness increase the damage taken), and you don't need to dual wield, which may decrease your damage since you will need way more hit rating and expertise, two stats which are quite hard to cap with the leveling gear. With the Taste for Blood talent you can always count on your Overpower ability, which cannot be blocked or dodged and it's almost a certain critical strike (both Improved Overpower and Unrelenting Assault talents increase your Overpower crit chance). With a good two-hand weapon you can easily Charge + Rend and two-shot any mob. Following a critical hit, many useful talents proc, like Deep Wounds, Wrecking Crew and Trauma.

  7. 5. Things about a protection warrior.

    1. You do more aoe damage with revenge + glyphed cleave
    2. You have more chances of soloing elites.
3.You have less downtime compared to Fury and Arms leveling
    4. You can get into RDF more quickly because you're a protection warrior.
5 You are less vulnerable to ganking, most melees and casters avoid ganking a prot warrior on early levels.

    3. http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/item=44099 (I had excess Stonekeeper Shards) but preferrably go for http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/item=42949
    4. http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/item=42946 (from my hunter leveling days)
    5. http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/item=42991 honestly I didn't feel this had any effect, I had it during my hunter leveling days too and felt the same "no effect" back then

http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/item=42943 is only if you're not speccing Prot obviously but mainly because this weapon is also usable by Paladin, Warrior, DK and Hunter.

IMHO, if you're starved for currency to buy heirlooms but have plans to level other classes, your best choice would be to get Cloth Chest Armor and Cloth Shoulders so all classes can wear it (you'll be wearing for the +% exp anyway).

20% bonus XP comes with a price if you go this way, but it's more beneficial on power leveling rather than having no XP bonus heirloom at all.

Fun fact: I once saw a DK wearing Cloth Shoulder / Chest Heirlooms while tanking Blood furnace, we kept telling him to wear plate instead so the healer won't have a hard time, but he insisted because he wants the bonus XP and finished the whole dungeon in 30 minutes. :)
