Hello guys,

Soon i can create a dk, i'd really like to tank rdfs.
Is it easy to hold aggro with a dk? If yes, what talents and what side.
Good aggro spells?

Go Blood spec for tanking. You can check Blood Tanking talents from the DK section here or even just Google it.

You'll use Frost Presence since it increases Threat Generation. Other spells that cause high threat are Icy Touch, Rune Strike, Death and Decay and Dark Command (Taunt). Death and Decay is used for multiple targets. You can get the talent from Unholy tree to decrease its CD by 15 seconds to make it easier for you. As for Rune Strike, you should macro is with Blood strike or Heart Strike so it's used as often as possible. You can also use the Glyph of Dark Command so that it doesn't miss.

You can go Frost Dk as well as Unholy Dk for PvP. Blood spec is fun in BGs but not really viable in Arenas. Frost Dks have good single target burst with a good AoE effectiveness but Unholy has more ways of surviving and dealing stronger magical damage.

Hi there,

i just can recommendet not to go blood if youre new in tanking especially if yore new in beeing DK.
Blood is sure the best tanking spec but it is also the spec with the highest skill cap.

If u want to test the class alslo the tank mechanics i would like to give you the advice to check Gnimos Guide here on the DK Forum.

His Dungeon hero Spec is by far the best Dk tanking spec especially if you starting tanking on rdf.

This specc is by far the best aggro/threat generator.

I wanted to update the guides, mainly Tank one, with some talent builds and itemisation, for the weekend but i didnt have the time...
Il try to update all 3 of the guides during the week.

Edit:
While leveling simply use Unholy PvE/PvP hybrid spec.
U can tank anything u want aslong as u have a decent healer and u are in Frost Presence.
In times of danger, pop some def cds and selfheal with Death Strike.
For aggro simply:
IT > PS > Pestilence > Death and Decay> ...

U can get Scourge Strike (lvl 61/71) and Gargoyle (lvl 62/72) for potential PvP, and continue specing into frost tree.
Untill than, use Death Strike for DMG and Healing.

As DK u can solo most elites, pull big packs of adds, Spread Diseases and DnD, self heal and repeat... So overall lvling should be easy.

With this spec u have best instant aggro, without any preparations, without any setup, just pure DnD maximum dmg...
It should be good for newcomers that dont have the expirience when it comes to seting up stuff.

Death and Decay > Icy Touch > Plague Strike > Blood Boil/Blood Strike > Rune Strike

U should use IT, PS, BS and RS on diferent NPCs, those u have least amount of threat on, so u dont lose aggro...

Blood tanking is mad easy, 570defence for raid crit cap and anything over that counts towards dodge/parry. my tanking rotation is simple. single target one icy touch in frost pres is enough to keep aggro with auto attacks alone, multiple targets I use Dead and Decay, Icy touch, plague strike, Pest and blood boil. may have to use Blood Tap to regen runes to complete entire rotation but after that you have aggro and use a simple dps rotation with Glyph of Disease. any questions feel free to Pm me in game, Orc DK Dedwreck

1x IT is simply not enough, especialy if u are not BiS.
Perfect example for that are dead DPS all arround VoAs, myself included.
If u want solid aggro, u need to spam both IT and Rune Strike, especialy if noone is MDing or ToTing u...

Blood has the worst AoE aggro of all DK specs and is just an inferior version of Unholy in dungeons. Use Unholy or Frost instead. Best race for DK tanks is tauren.

Probably shouldn't promoting yourself as a source of tanking advice when you don't even know what the defense cap is.
