WotLK Understanding Fishing

Searched the forums and only found 2 threads talking about some other aspect.


So my question is.. where do I fish? I am at fishing lv 200 and when I look up a guide online and go fish where it says I am catching fish but not leveling it. It seems like there is just a 5% chance to level when I cast and catch a fish.

I thought I could in theory fish anywhere and lv it all the way up since patch 3.1 but I still dont understand.

It goes really slowly at your level. You can indeed fish anywhere and catch anything to level fishing. I stood at the puddle in Org and maxed mine out one day while bored.
Every catch counts toward a level, they just go slowly around certain levels.
