Is Engineering worth taking on this server?

With the sheer amount of UD ganking going on in the old world, and the fact that Blacksmiths abound, I’m wondering if it might be wise to dump BS and get my Gnome on. I know that ENG was a lot more potent in vanilla, but a lot of that was due to no Arenas. I also remember a lot of old world toys being nerfed. So what do you guys think? Is Engineering worth it from a self defense perspective? Also, I’m a Pally, and can bubble out of backfires, so I would go Gnome, unless there’s some compelling reason to go Goblin that I’m not aware of.

I would take a look at the helms you can get from sunwell as those are coming out in a few months to weigh in on your decisions. Those helms are BiS until Kil'jaeden loot. and likely bis forever in PVP.

For world pvp and bgs. I'd never give up engineering for anything else.
