Charcer restoration (old account) no restore option

Hello,
I tried logging in to my old warmane account to try and play with some friend but i found out that all my characters were gone. Can they be somehow restored?
Seems the activity of my old account is still visible in the history tabs, including stuff bought using coins/points.
I saw somewhere on the forums that if you donate more than 10$ the chars would be no longer deleted, does this option functions also the other way around ?

Donating now won't bring your chars back. If they were on Deathwing or Ragnaros, those realms merged into Icecrown and inactive characters had to be transferred using a feature on website. You can create a support ticket on website here or send an email to [email protected] to see if they can help you.

They were characters on Icecrown. I will try with sending an email because the support ticket has only a ban appeal in the topic dropdown..
