Lol? Are you saying everything after WotLK were good times for PvP? You're completely wrong. In fact the best time for PvP in WoW was BC->WotLK. MoP has some good times but very little. Retail is trash that's why every is playing private servers to PvP

Well, to be fair "pvp focus" isn't a positive factor when we are talking about blizzard.

Ashran was a pvp zone, legion honor talents was a pvp progression, templates etc.

Wotlk is overrrated, yeah. But i believe that butkus only come to that conclussion because warrior dont suit his pvp goals and this is just so biased pov.

Late MOP like every other time of wow was a bad pvp game, but was the funniest because classes had their maximum arsenal avaliable.

Was 1v1 or bg balanced?, hell no, MOP is still wow pvp. But at least you can change talents, mess around and try stuff, you dont need to reroll on late panda for get fun and competitive experience. (well maybe prot paladin and blood dk can't say this).

Contrary to wotlk, you could play any class of any spec outside of the 3v3 box and get some fun.

You misunderstand the point entirely sir.

Pvp has always been unbalanced and most likely will never truly be balanced.

The point is not whether or not pvp is balanced. The point is whether Blizzard INTENDED for pvp to be a main focus of the game or not.

Early expansions it was clearly stated by Blizzard that pvp was not a main focus of the game. AKA they did not INTEND for pvp to be a main focus.

It was not until later versions of wow that we saw Blizzard begin to put more focus into pvp as a main game. AKA they started to make INTENTIONS for pvp to be a main focus.

To add, Blizzard also does try to balance the game. But them, just like the game, are not perfect.

    Yes this is true.

Even though pvp was not a main focus of the game as Blizzard intended, that did not stop them from trying to achieve at least some form of balance where they could.

That being said, they did not prioritize PvP before PvE, meaning that PvE almost always came first when game balance came to mind.

The talk of splitting PvE and PvP was even brought up by massive amounts of the community, but Blizzard said themselves they would not try to make any game changes that would split the game into 2 seperate games; pve and pvp.

As things stand currently on Live, they kinda have separated the two. In Legion, the PvP rewards are kinda awful, tbh. Though, on the plus side, in instanced PvP, falling behind in gear is not really concern. The downside of that being that gear in general has very little influence on instanced PvP at all, which I don't really like.

However, if we're talking about older eras (expansions), honestly the gearing process of the two parts of the game from Wrath to WoD compliment each other pretty decently. Even as recently as Warlords, PvP gear was a pretty decent and fairly quick way to get some starter gear for PvE. Similar applies to MoP. And then the opposite is somewhat true for Wrath and Cata, where quick PvE gear can open the gateway into starting PvP. Lastly, in both cases, the PvE and PvP gear is useful to some degree in the other part of the game. That was something I kinda appreciated, and I'm sure PvP-ers appreciate more than I do in general.

As for balancing, if we're going to be completely honest about it, there isn't any way to achieve perfect balance when the game isn't split. They can try to come close, but it's just not going to work. Blizzard has tried for over a decade to achieve that. They gave up and then created stat templates and PvP talent trees for PvP upon which they plan to iterate further in BFA. So we can hope that BFA will be the most balanced instanced PvP yet, but people complaining about PvP balance prior to that point.... eugh. I can get where they're coming from, but at the same time, they will continue to be victims of a flawed system. A flawed system that was an "add-on" to what was originally a PvE game with initial intentions of only incidental PvP.

    So yeah, tldr, mostly agree.
