1. Why does the 3.3.5 client wake up my HDD?

    Hey,

This is not strictly Warmane related probably but I can't figure it out and it drives me crazy.

I have an old HDD that functions basically as a download folder. I downloaded the 3.3.5 client there and then moved it to a SSD drive where it is now. Hovewer every time I play the game (located now on SSD) it wakes up my old HDD with noise and clicks.

I have tried tracking disk processes with Resource Monitor but it doesn't show anything.

This only happens with the 3.3.5 client, not with any other program I have downloaded including 2.4.3 client.

Any ideas? I have tried nearly everything simple googling suggests.

  2. Maybe parts are cached in the HDD's cache or whatever the hell Windows' seasoning it is for waking it up.
If it is cached there I have no idea how you'd flush them since that goes on without your influence.
That's about the only thing I can think of that might cause it to do that.
