1. Holy Pala PvE and Solace of the Defeated.

    Currently I am using

    Talisman of Resurgence (https://wotlk.evowow.com/?item=48724)
    Meteorite Crystal
    (https://wotlk.evowow.com/?item=46051)
which many Pala Guides say they’re BiS unless you get 284 trinket from Halion, but all of my guildies say Solace is better than the Talisman.

I’ve just got the heroic Solace of the Defeated (https://wotlk.evowow.com/?item=47059)
the BiS PvP, so I wonder should I be using it in PvE as well. I have 38k mana, 358 mp5 unbuffed, no GboK.

  2. I've been playing around with solace lately since Meteorite doesn't give 2 stacks per cast anymore, so it's mp5 drops way lower than what it was before. I like it, lots of mp5 always active, but it doesn't proc from holy shock, which kinda sucks, sometimes I wanna keep it up while running from a mob group to a group.
I am not sure how would the +111int translate into mp5 with crit and mana returns.
Some also mention Solace+MC, but then bye-bye Talisman's SP for plea, sadly..
If you're ok with your current mana pool without MC solace should be better: You have more spell power and more mana regen, seems reasonable.
And about the bis lists: for healers they're not really the best. If you have druids to innervate you every minute you'd be best off stacking spell power to heal more, if you had 0 druids and no replenishment 2x solace would sure beat out anything else and so on. They depend on the encounter and raid setups a lot.

  3. It's not possible to give a completely accurate answer as to its regen potency but there's a breakdown made a long time ago in the comment section of

    http://www.wowhead.com/item=48724/ta...gence#comments

Overall it'll certainly refund you less mana so long as a fight drags on long enough. This only concerns fights like LoD, halion and possibly PP/sindra/BQL. When it comes to throughput if you average out the /use of Talisman it's a roughly 100 SP (99.83(3)). This assumes that you use instantly off CD which doesn't really happen. Anyways, the passive SP it brings is small but the proc is useful in a number of ways that have already been covered in part by the user above. I want to note that the extra SP won't offset DP modifier by a whole lot. One more use is that when you've used talisman you should recast sacred shield whenever you can spare the GCD since it'll also boost the absorbs by it somewhat. Solace's constant SP and nearly 100% uptime of an extra 144 mp5 is imo a lot better than talisman when it comes to the more serious fights.

TL:DR You won't need solace on short fights, you'll likely want pure throughput trinkets there, but on long ones solace is better. Oh and I believe MC was fixed a few days ago.

  4. For whatever reason, Solace doesn't conform to typical stat budget constraints. It carries a lot more bang for its buck than its 258 ilevel would suggest. Most of this comes from the insane 144 mp5.

The sheer stat weight value superiority of the trinket means that it very easily finds a place in any healer's arsenal. I would almost never use the Talisman of Resurgence as a Hpally if I had Heroic Solace.
