Staff never explicitly said that they will do it yearly. And they give timely warning, that should have been given around a month ago. So I wouldn't bet on it.

Most likely yes. Personally, I don't even keep gold anymore. My wealth is stored security in assets like gems/primordial saronite/mats for the past 2 years so I don't even think about it anymore. if I need gold for like leveling a prof or something I just sell a small portion of my stock.

Gold squish is as capitalist as it gets, all the gold from terrified fools ripe for taking. Chinese gold farmers tripled their gold because of squish, so did I. Tough it helped economy.

Yea, gems going like hot cakes at 350 is just insane...
I mean, sure, I can make a ton on that, but it's really terrible for the new guys. I vote split it.

It would be so great to see how much gold is created and how much is drained.
Squish wont help, 2 times and yet we are in the same position. These prices are because of squish that wont happen this year, at least that's the biggest reason(not because there are too much gold, but simply because people hoard stuff and getting rid of gold). Staff shoul'd make some global announcement "NO SQUISH THIS YEAR" so everyone sees it, that woul'd help.
There really needs to be something for the long run. Now that there are news on BGs and stuff being hosted on another server maybe buying temporary que-skip for ingame gold could be it.

Yes, we're in the same, not worse position, that's the point of the drain.
When prices reach insane numbers like these, you cut it in half, they go back to decent numbers and then slowly grow again.
Other solutions could be some cosmetic or fun items with a duration that can be bought for gold. like some masks and some BS that wont affect the gameplay, but that's a whole other topic in an other subforum.

That's not what I meant. Previous squishes were accompanied with some other measures. Simply cutting number in half doesn't mean anything, really. Its just a number. After panic about squish will disappear we will be in the same boat - prices stabilize and start to rise. So the people reaction to squish has far greater impact than it's "mechanical" effect.
Plus squish has major negative that no one seems to look at - people distrust to engage in trading beyond whats absolutely necessary for mounts and spells. Because why bother if Warmane will "steal mah half gold :(". There are like 10 guys in past year who actively trade on AH.

What they are doing (reduction of the gold rewards of missions, etc) seems to me an excellent idea instead of cutting the gold to 50% hurting 85% of users who do not farm tons of gold and keep their gold for their characters. Instead of cutting the 50% of gold that with so much work cost to get to many people, from now on, the rewards of the gold drop will be cut, that will keep a stable trade and inflation will be avoided.
