Technical WOW Error after reaching 2GB RAM

Hello there,
Im getting the following WoW error:

This application has encountered a critical error:

Not enough memory resources are available to process this command.

From what i've researched its due to WOW reaching 2 GB Ram usage(from what i understand its coded for WOW to use max 2 GB Ram - if you start using more your client will crash).I've found out that its possible to increase the cap,but in order to do it i need to edit the wow files.Does someone know if this is legal( I dont want to get Ban) or if someone knows a way to increase the cap that wont give me ban i will be gratefull if he share it.
