1. Disc Priest BOE leggs

Hi guys! I'm leveling a disc priest, and once i reach 80 i have a lot of boes prepared for him (bql neck, marrow ring, shoulders boe from icc) but i have a question for the craftable pieces. i'm using http://forum.warmane.com/showthread.php?t=346233 guide to learn basic disc priest gameplay, and there (and almost everyguide) they place spirit in the lowest place for stats.

    Therefore, i'm planning on crafting

https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Sandals_of_Consecration (feet icc with spirit, since the other have hit and i dont need)

https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Lightweave_Leggings (leggs icc with haste instead of spirit)

https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Merl...obe_(Alliance) (toc chest with haste instead of spirit)

https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Beje...ers_(Alliance) (toc bracers with haste instead of spirit)

I was wondering if that was the correct choice since, i'll run out of gold with my main and i dont think i can craft another set of pieces. Just in case i'm posting the links of the items with spirit to compare with:

    https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Lightweave_Leggings (icc leggs with spirit)

    https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Roya...obe_(Alliance) (toc chest with spirit)

    https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Roya...ers_(Alliance) (toc bracers with spirit)

Is spirit really that useless for disc priests? Should i "avoid" it ?(i know its good since it gives something but i see it as kind of armor pen for ret pala after reading those guides) Or should i go for a mix with icc legs with haste and toc chest and bracers with spirit, or something like that?

    Thank you very much!!

It's not "useless" at all. Spirit overtakes mp5 as an efficiency stat once you reach the ~264 ilvl threshold (ICC 10 heroic or 25 normal gear levels), and spirit as a regeneration stat is better than no regeneration stat at all when you need more mana regeneration. If you need the regeneration, your overall ilvl is low and you don't have mp5 as an option, you should be taking spirit.

  3. Hey there. One thing to consider about most guides on forum is they are designed with high end-game raiding in mind, so, their argument might not always hold valuable for gearing/learning.
If you know how to use Intellect as Disc Priest, it would be the most valuable stat for Mana regen, then you can invest on other useful stat like Haste, but while gearing up and learning, Spirit helps you to have a safer Mana return in case of spam or mess ups + while gearing you probably doing a lot of 10 man raids which means less access to Mana regen stuff like GBoW, Replenishment, Innervate and etc. which makes spirit more shiny and useful, but in 25s and high-end raids with organized guilds it loses it's value a lot.
So in the end you are better off with spirit items if new to spec, just have an eye on your haste level (the guide you linked explained it for example) if you want to really min-max + you will change your gear soon enough, don't over think it.

    Hey there!
I felt like I had to jump into this converstaion because of what you said about getting spirit on early gear levels. I am guessing you meant it in case someone messes up the mana regen from Rupture, then they will still have constant mana regen from spirit?
While this is not a complete bad idea, I would not recommend learning to play the class this way. You will learn faster how to play your class properly this way.
Intellect is the best mana regen tool while gearing up. If you run oom, you gem it. If you want something other than intellect, then you should grab mp5.
Spirit is only starting to outperform mp5 in the end game gear, as it was stated above, when you have enough of other stats so that your spirit based mana regen will outperform the mp5 one.

To the crafting question above, I would craft the gears which you linked first. Try to run a few TOC25, and grab the trinket from the 2nd boss, since it gives you a huge chunk of mp5. If you can't get your hands on it, but have some eof to spend, the frost trinket is a valid option.
Although if you have more than enough haste already (above 434), then spirit can be a useful pickup even while gearing up. Instead of haste, and not instead of any other mp5 stat. Since after you reach the cap, haste is not going to provide you with much more benefits (decreasing the casting time, which only will come in clutch when you have to cast w/o the BT buff). But spirit, even if little, will give you mana regeneration at all times.
