All my characters disappeared

I wasn't sure where to put this.
I haven't played WoW in helluva long time, I just reinstalled it and all characters I had on wotlk are gone. The ones on mop are still there, were just nameless.
There was an incident back in November last year when I got an email that someone changed my acc email and password but I immediately solved that but as I did not have wow installed did not check in game, and it appears that mf had the time to delete my characters.
I have played on molten, well, warmane, since 2011 so this is beyond upsetting. The time (and money) I've put into the characters after the Moltdown.
My last backup was made about a year ago, the last time I went online to talk with my guildies a bit.
I honestly hope this can be resolved in some way because I am pretty close to tears rn.

Attached is the email from november when my email adress got changed and my subsequent response to the guy who changed it. I thought that was just an empty threat.
