1. What happened to the internet?

    Hello guys,

I think I won’t need to inform you about what happened the past few days in the world (esp. fri- 3/15 in New Zealand) but I want to hear your guys opinion on what’s going on with humanity in general.

I could fairly imagine that you guys are about the same age as me (mid 20s) and that’s the reason why I specifically asks here on warmane forums.

I checked the forum rules and I couldn’t find anything related about opening such polical themes is forbidden (or I missed the part). Anyway if it’s against warmanes TOS feel free to delete and ban me.

    ———————-

After I heared that the killer has radicalized himself on well known imageboards, I visited those boards and it shocked me that a fairly big part of this community shows solidarity to such a devastating crime!
I mean it’s fairly obvious that a big chunk is just ****posting but how can someone ever believe that violence in such a form is a legitime way of promoting an opinion or political position.

In fairly lot of countries elections are a tool to allow citizens to push their opinion and it’s still likely that people stay home while on the other hand being upset about the outcome of an election. (Atleast in Germany)

I’m wondering what your guys experience with the internet nowadays is. I’m fairly sure you’re using the internet atleast as long as me and I kinda wonder if you’ve experienced this brutalization among internet users in terms of general behavior.
Do we have to take care about the internet culture to not let it drift apart even more? Or do you guys think that it’s still part of free speech to denunciate people on the internet who not share your opinion?

This case of crime feels so close to general internet users especially because of all those parallels to gaming and media as a whole. Do you guys have this same feeling that it’s something completely different?

And one last question, you think it’s the right way to remove every copy of the crime from the internet? I’m not talking about the denunciation of the victims in general which is enough reason to remove it but about the fact that everyone is able to consume nsfw/snuff/gore content (even in much better quality) which awards you kinda the same disgusting feelings. But in case of this video, it’s the first time that a government want it to get removed very badly.

Okay guys hope you can share your experience with me and this won’t get shut down. Furthermore I hope you understand what I wanted you to ask because english is not my strongest language haha!

    Anyway have a nice days!

  2. The Problem with the internet is that it is a huge echo chamber. If you advance such thoughts in real life people will bring you down for it and judge you, but on the internet you can just bring it out there and whatever your opinion is, you'll find the people who agree with you. Similar minded people sharing their views will rarely lead to moderation but usually to radicalisation. People who feel unrepresented by our pretty onesided media will eventually find a home in some place in the internet and get influenced to the point of not recognizing people who disagree with them as humans, but as straight out evil.
So instead of the usual unpreventable conflict between opinions we have multiple radically different views for the future where everyone just demonizes the other party instead of trying to understand and get along with them.
On the one hand we have the people who search for racism and sexism in whatever subject they can find and on the other hand we have people who want to prevent these changes in culture with whatever means are necessary.
In my opinion we should rather than trying to further ignore such extreme opinions watch where they are coming from and see how to peacefully get along with each other. The main thing that misses nowadays is the contact with people who have other opinions, which is really ironic if you think about it. And whenever there is contact most people try to find out as fast as possible if that is "a good guy"(aka someone I agree with) or "a evil human" (someone I do not agree with) and as soon as this choice is taken, it's hard to reverse. For example: I got called multiple times an SJW in this forum for talking against crossrealm bgs, which has absolutely nothing to do with politics whatsoever.
Being more open towards those who disagree with you is the key. No one is going to change their political views because you call them a nazi or sjw and no one is going to change their thoughts when you forbid to express them. All of this only makes the problem worse.
There are only 2 ways to solve this issue:
-talk and try to understand the other people and try to find an agreement (actual democracy)
-get rid of those who you disagree with (which was attempted in New Zealand and will be attempted by the government if they decide for harder censorship)

It feels like only very very few people actually want to take the first option and even if they do, they all want the other party to initiate it and admit that they are wrong. People aren't forced to get along with people they disagree with in our culture of individualism, so they can drive in their political corner without any breaks, which leads to said problems.

So this is not a problem created by the internet, it is a problem pushed into the internet. If we "solved" this problem in the internet (which is litterally impossible) it would move somewhere else. Similar minded people will always find themselves somewhere to share their views.

I would've rather answered in german aswell to make my point maybe clearer, but it is an english forum and a global problem, so I hope the language barrier isn't to big of a problem. And same for me: if this is somehow against the rules, since opening the politcs jar is always very dangerous for mentioned reasons, feel free to delete this.

  3. What happened is some dude went on killing spree and some quickly danced on warm corpses to show how virtuous they are and other ones used those warm corpses to gain more power over what people can or can not say.

  4. Well, it kinda fells like those algorithms which improve your search results often leading to more relevant websides, are cutting down the diversity of opinions on the internet. As a result you will often find boards where just one opinion is excepted because there is never really a debate about certain topics which may counter the common view of things. As a result people are more likely going to radicalize themself at those special places.

We have chosen to live in a more globalized world, it gives us far reaching advantages in economy, information exchange and culture exchange. On the other side its kinda obviously that this requires some concessions from all sides. Who wants the one, must like the other.
And however if you truly disagree with that, you're still able to give your opinion a voice and go to election.

Has Allylilith got banned because of the post?

  5. Facts > Feelings. <- It should be this.

    What it has come to:
The internet is black and white, there's no gray area. People will use any platform to push their own agenda, beliefs, and views on others. Disagree with them and you'll easily get blocked/muted/banned. Thrown into jail even...
Those who give well placed criticism on anything, gets called ignorant, x-phobe, and even a nazi, if it even remotely fits in the picture.
Oh yeah... the big stinking pile of double standards amazes me.

... also if you disagree you're wrong and "literally worse than Hitler."

  6. Has Allylilith got banned because of the post?
If he had, the post would have been removed.

  7. i believe the double standards are getting to people. over 12,000 dead from islamic terror attacks since 2000 = "not all muslims", most of it gets swept under the rug and not reported on. ~400 due to right wing terrorists in the same time span? White men are evil. Sadiq Khan's thoughts on terrorism in his city in 2016? Part and bloody parcel, mate, completely passe about it. Infuriating. When it comes to new zealand? Yep. He is just "devastated", and "his heart goes out to the victims". that and the PM of NZ is deciding to use the government to seriously promote a religion onto a secular nation by having a televised national prayer, and wearing, while urging other females to wear a hijab, a symbol of female subjugation. it is all quite bonkers to see how this situation is deteriorating, and exactly as brenton had planned. facebook not culpable for allowing the atrocity to be streamed in the first place or having it reposted several times, mass scale censorship involving blocking dozens of websites- even archive.is, based on, and I quote: "...we feel this is the right thing to do." one of the most chilling string of words ever uttered by an entity with power, something that can be used to justify essentially anything. Yeah, you can see why some people feel the way they do.

60% of chinese polled on WeChat viewed the massacre as a revenge and "extremely sympathized" with the killer after reading his manifesto. I am not sure if that means anything to you but it's not just a race thing, nationalism is strong in asia as well. I think the sentiments he is trying to convey, that this cultural apocalypse europe is undergoing needs to be addressed, replacement is a real thing, and admit that maybe, just maybe, importing more immigrants than your country's entire current population isn't the very best idea ever, either culturally or economically. Islam is fundamentally not compatible with western values, in fact it is repressively diametrically opposed on most issues such as women's rights and punishments for things such as homosexuality and apostasy. Europe will just keep having ebba akerlund's until they come to realize this. Many may not condone the partisan actions of brenton, but millions do resonate with the sentiments expressed in his manifesto.

Also some kid getting up to 14 years for sharing a video online is lunacy.

That's just what I think is going on, as a dumb american seeing this all play out from a distance.

  8. I honestly don't feel like joining into this because reasons but since some brought it up and so far it seems like this is being civilized and fair I would like to point out a couple of things:

It has been proven that when you allow to have a total free speech political debate on the internet, and I mean truly, no censor at all; It always becomes extreme right-wing. It seems to me that the left ideas need censorship in order to be applied, that's why on such imageboards you mention (4chan, 8cha, Kiwifarms...etc) the tendency is to be extreme right-wing. And I'm telling you it happens absolutely everywhere. The reason I believe is because right-wing ideals follow a logic and use reasoning to be expressed while left ideas tend to be more "emotional" and sometimes I would even say they are on the fringes of delusion.

With that being said, I don't think there's anything happening on the internet, it's just that under the anonymous status everyone feels more comfortable of sharing thoughts that normally you wouldn't. How many times you have said something online or expressed a view that you would absolutely never do it in real life? I'm pretty sure you would say atleast once. Because that's the way things are, sometimes our way of thinking is conditioned by the social pressure, on what others will think about us. And that makes us say things that we don't believe or that we're not 100% sure about it, just because we don't want to be seen as X or Y; Nowadays being called Nazi or Racist. Well just go back 500 years ago and switch those adjectives to "Heretic". The people in power will always use derogatives to destroy dissidence, and free thinking/Speech always goes against their narrative, because they are obviously pushing an agenda that doesn't allign with the majority.

And I'm also going to add something that is also a fact: The fantasy universes playerbase tends to be leaning to fascism/right wing aswell.

If you take the playerbase of warhammer, I can assure you without a doubt that 90% of them are fascists, neo national-socialists, nationalists, right-wingers etc...
If you take the audience of the lord of the rings it happens exactly the same.
I'm not sure about Warcraft as a whole, but I would say it's the same scenario.

Now ask yourself why do you think is that. I think the best way to describe this is using the myth of the cavern by Plauto.

And to finish this in concordance with what Pooppickle said:

60% of chinese polled on WeChat viewed the massacre as a revenge and "extremely sympathized" with the killer after reading his manifesto. I am not sure if that means anything to you but it's not just a race thing, nationalism is strong in asia as well. I think the sentiments he is trying to convey, that this cultural apocalypse europe is undergoing needs to be addressed, replacement is a real thing, and admit that maybe, just maybe, importing more immigrants than your country's entire current population isn't the very best idea ever, either culturally or economically.
Asians, especially chinese call westerners with strong SJW and pro migrant ideas "Bugmen". When you see people that's completely aside from all of this madness making such remarks about you, doesn't even make you think a bit, I wonder?

Along with what I just said previously, if you make some analogies using any fantasy game, tell me: What would you do?

Replace the west by the Imperium of men, replace migrants by Tyranids. Replace the west by Gondor, replace migrants by Harad.

It's just like Pooppickle said: Islam, not only Islam; But all semite religions are incompatible with the west, that's why we became the most atheist nations in the world with Czech republic on top. Our way of thinking doesn't align with lineal and absolutist religions that view any outsider as an infidel, heretic or goyim. And the only reason of why christianism prevailed in europe is because in the renaissance joined the rationalism, otherwise we would have went back to paganism or become full atheists.

And indeed, incarcerating someone for 14 years for sharing a video while pedos and rapists get under 10 years it's just lunacy and a honest reflection of the current state of our societies.

    Best regards.

PS: Swedish newspappers are completely biased, the last one that I used to read was Aftonbladet and it's also fake news today, don't trust anything that they say on the swedish news.
