Cold weather flying troubles

So I recently hit 78 on my first toon, and my first thought was to start the icecrown stuff to open up those dailies. I got the quest, quest giver flew me to the ship......and then i realized I havent trained flying......omg.

ANyway, I finally got back to Dal and see cold weather flying is 1000g, and I only have like 200g. But having 225 riding skill allowed me to buy the flying mount in Dal that it's tooltip states "can only be used in Outland and Northrend"

When I try to use the mount anywhere in Northrend, is says that "can't use that here". So i cant do Icecrown or Stormpeak stuff(after the intro quests).

What gives?

Do I need to buy the 1000g book first?

Thats going to take forever.

yes you need cold weather flying to be able to fly in northrend.

You don't *need* to level up in Icecrown, you can level up somewhere else (Sholazar is my favourite, despite the ganking) and then, at level 80, you'll have plenty of stuff to do to amass 1000 gold.

Go to K3 flightmaster, and ask for a borrowed mount. It will let you fly in Storm Peaks and Icecrown areas. Good until you can get your hands on CWF.
