1. Final battle: feral vs rogue

DISCLAIMER: I know, in fact we all do. There's no "best class" or "funnier class" to play with. Besides that, we all have an opinion

    Hi everyone!

This is a post created to discuss the viability of those classes in PvP, what are the strengths and weakness of both of them and which class can do it better in PvP (arena or BG)

    So let's this battle begin!

  2. what expansion?
In every expansion rogue is a better pick, but feral has more or less weaknesses depending the version of the game.

  3. They are both good and viable in pvp.

Feral: more dmg in general and more sustained dmg, more tanky, high mobility, can heal, way less cd-dependent. Better for 1v1s and BGs imo.

Rogue: nice burst, got healing reduction, tons of CCs, rely on cds and stealth a lot, very squishy with few to no room for errors. Better in arena imo.

Overall they shine in different situations imo, no one is better than the other, regarding arenas and duels they have different counters as well. Both are great in Wpvp. Keep in mind that if you play feral in pvp, sooner or later you will be able to farm also pieces for resto/balance, and getting a caster too.

  4. rogue is better, feral is playable in wotlk but the key mechanics are there.

Feral is decent without cooldowns and has decent sustained. Feral cc is actually good.

In bg feral as rogue is subpar for mass battles, feral can survive a little more but other melees are better in this area.
Rogue can open on enemy healer and "burst cc" enemy group, but without cloak, evasion and vanish he can't go front line, shadowstep can't be used on allies in wotlk.
Feral lacks inmunities, so outside of bearform he can't stay in front line. Cyclone is nice but resto/balance provide this and more.
With tiger fury you can get some cc beetween pounce, maim and instant clone but is far more vulnerable than rogue.

So hey, they're stealthy, his job is kill enemy flag, assist flag ,cap enemy bases or defend bases.

Feral is a better partner for defending flag imo, because cc is constant and heals are nice addition, feral peels better.

For cap rogue has sap blind- cap and burst in short cd, feral can't "ninja cap" because cyclone is 6 secs and outside of berserk (3min cd) take time for killing stuff for wotlk standards.

For defend base both are similar in combat, but rogue can prevent a cap without leaving stealth for a decent ammount of time.
Rogue is better for delay cap vs multiple enemies.

Outside of berserk, rogue is better at killing enemy flag carrier.
In the case that flag carrier is alone and this turns in a 1vs1 feral is pretty nice and feral is better vs tanky enemies than rogue.

Feral damage requires more set up : roar/mangle/bleed now you're doing damage, rogue set up damage is get full energy and press dance.

In duels feral can do better vs pal/dk, but they still beat feral, only by pilar humping feral has a chance.
Direct damage for feral is still 60% or more of the total damage, bleeds by themselves aren't enough pressure in wotlk, so they aren't giving something special damage wise compared to other melees.

Rogue is better at chain stun kill target and controling 2nd target. 10/15 sec killing window plus 16 secs focus cc.
Feral can't compete in this scenario, because feral loses much pressure while try to cc. Feral cc is better for defensive situations or sustained pressure, and sadly killing quiclky is the name of the game.

Feral feels better in the sense that you aren't specially weak but at the same time you aren't specially strong vs any class, but at the end of the day set up the kill is more important stuff for victory and rogue surpass feral in that department.

  5. Both suck in bgs as theres little room for squishy melee to breathe in a real fight. Feral is better in arena imo due to better survivability and innervate.

  6. Feral disc is tier 1 comp in this meta since they have high winrate vs war pal.
Feral has low variativity in compositions.
But feral comps are basicly stronger than rogue comps.
