WotLK is ele shaman a good spec for random bg's?

hey, i am kinda new on warmane, and i really was not old enough back in wotlk to really understand what sucked and what did not. But i have always loved bursty classes - ele shaman. So i just wanted to ask you guys if ele shaman is a good spec in mostly rated bg's? Or if there is another class that is just like flat-out superior to it.

There are a lot of ranged classes very good in bgs, ele is one of them

When it comes to dmg on the BG scoreboard ele shamis are decent in Wotlk but absolute beasts in TBC.
On Wotlk a well geared destro lock, arcane mage or PvE geared Boomkin deals a bit more burst dmg but ele is also strong.
