I'm having some frame stutter issues. These are not low fps, neither fps drops. I'm having around 50ms - 800ms FRAME FREEZEs. It can get bad enough to have me fall off to death while crossing a bridge in The Nexus dungeon. Otherwise, I have 140-190 fps without issues.
I'm thinking it's cache or memory related. It doesn't happen in any other game other than WoW WotLK clients. (Haven't tried other expansions yet) These happen, though not always, when I'm...
-Targeting a player (worse)
-Inspecting a player
-Opening bags or bank
-Talking to the auctioneer
-Talking to a vendor
-Looting a corpse
-Turning camera
-Just running (as new area loads I guess)
...and more
I tried:
-Deleting Cache folder
-Disabling all addons
-Implementing LAA (Large Address Aware) fix
-Lowering/disabling and increasing video settings
-Using Vsync and Triple buffering
-Trying both 60 and 144 refresh rates for 144hz screen.
-Turning off any background applications that could hog memory
-Increasing
-Limiting CPU core usage for Wow.exe to 4 cores via task manager
-Giving Wow.exe process priority via task manager
This stutter was also happening in another server I was playing, with another customized client folder. In case it may be related, that server was also a WotLK emulation. It seems to happen less once these actions are cached. I mean once I open my bags, if it stutters, the chances are it won't stutter again FOR A WHILE. Same with targeting a player: It may stutter for half a second when I do it, but if I do it again soon after, it doesn't stutter.

Okay. I lived with this for a couple years. Tried every trick I could find online. Then moved my entire game folder to an external drive. BOOM! Runs perfect! All settings at max. Looks amazing / runs amazing.
