It all depends on what situation you are seeing. In a 1V1 bracket/tournament setup dlock will be **** on by many classes and alock is better overall (sustain etc).

Dlock is pretty strong, and dont have unbeatable counters as I know.

Best in open field 1v1?
Frost mage, Destro/Afflic warlock, Unholy DK, Shadow priest. Ret paladin also but they are better in 1v1 with line of sight.

Ret paladin, Shadow priest. Sometimes Unholy DK, but usually Ret paladin is better.

Ive been playing warlock in WotLK 1v1 for over 10 years and ive never met a DK that I cant beat. I am not saying I am unbeatable vs DKs, but warlock can win DK if he gets good burst or kites well.

Ive found there is no such thing as a "best class for 1v1". Its more like a group of classes that are good at 1v1. It all comes down to who plays better that day and how good you are at playing your class/spec in 1v1.
