Mage Gear Progression Advice

Hello! I would like to seek advice on how to best gear my mage.

I bought everything that I can with EoT and EoF just to raise my gearscore but I just recently knew that gs isn't everything. I am currently running arcane and would like to switch to TTW or FFB, any suggestions would be appreciated in helping me transition.

Please don't recommend me raid gear since I have no access to raids atm.

You are way over Hit cap. As Arcane you need 11% from gear for soft cap. So swap trinket to something else. Probably staff too, GArfrost normal drops 219 staff if you cant get better.

Your gear and spec seems all great to do stuff like dungeons, since you said "no raids", so you are overgeared and don't need to worry about it. I think you can leave everything as is and do way more dps than you need.

How about when I switch to FFB or TTW? Do I need to switch anything?

FFB isn't worth considering.
If you want to spec into TTW I'd replace your trinkets with http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/item=45518 and http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/item=45308 from the vote shop because you need a decent amount of crit to make fire better than arcane.

You need 17% hit chance. You get 3% for arcane spells from talent. And another 3% from boomkin/shadow priest debuff. So 11% from gear. with TTW you need 14% from gear, since you don't get 3% from talents for fire spells.

Also thing is, Arcane will be better for short fights - like dungeons, 30-60 sec fights. TTW is great, but it really shines in raids. However, I play TTW from the beginning and Arcane saps cant catch up despite we both having low and similar gear. But that doesnt tell much.

But I don't think swaping http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/item=40682 for http://wotlk.cavernoftime.com/item=45308 worth it because if you correctly use your combustion spell you can way more benefit from a 590 SP proc every 45 sec than a constant +125sp gain.

Concerning when swap from arcane to fire, my advice is :
- If you are a really good mage player at 14% hit rate, 45+ % crit rate and at least 2T10 set bonus.
- If you are a bit les confident : 14% hit rate, 47+ % crit rate qnd 4T10 set bonus

At you level of gear you can easely go for fire !

One thing about your gemming, if I can advice you prefer 12sp 10spirit than 10cc 10 spirit for bleu sockets
