1. Divine Sacrifice and Guardian for PVE Prot Tank?

Worth speccing 3 points into Divine Sacrifice and Divine Guardian as a Main tank? It seems like activating this skill is a good way to die and if you bubble then its a good way for the raid to die. Is this more of a pvp talent or holy and ret utility talent?

  2. You cancelaura the part which transfers damage to you

  3. #showtooltip
    /cast Divine Shield
    /cancelaura Divine Shield

  4. Ooook, read both talents again. Separately.
Divine sacrifice: 30% of all damage taken by *party* members within 30 yards is redirected to the Paladin (up to a maximum of 40% of the Paladin's health times the number of party members). *Damage which reduces the Paladin below 20% health will break the effect*. Lasts 10 sec.

If you are in a 5 man group, ie, RDF, the damage everyone takes gets drained into you. If you are in a raid, only the damage taken by the people in your group getds transfered. The rest of the people are on their own. Oh, and if you go below 1/5 of your total life it goes off on its own, so if the ability is scripted properly you should not die. And about bubble-sac, if you are the off-tank you can pull it usually without too many issues. Or as the main tank if for whatever reason you're not currently being attacked by anything, like, for example, BQL air phase, where you have all the time to bubble, sac, cancelaura bubble, and taunt the boss back.

Now, Divine guardian. Omitting the sacred shield part:
All party or raid members within 30 yards, excluding the Paladin, take 20% reduced damage for 6 sec. On divine sacrifice activation. Not "while divine sacrifice lasts. When it's activated. This means that, if you make a macro on the lines of "remove dsac // use dsac" and you double tap it, everyone takes only 4/5 of the dicks the boss is currently throwing at them, and you are potentially immune of any "oh god, i'm taking the extra damage" fears.

  5. You cancelaura the part which transfers damage to you
Sometimes the damage transfer can be useful.

    #showtooltip
    /cast Divine Shield
    /cancelaura Divine Shield
Reverse the order of this and it makes the macro multi-purpose.

    /cancelaura Divine Shield
    /cast Divine Shield

This way you can just press it once if you want to keep Divine Shield. Press a second time to remove it.
