WotLK Changing order of characters in character list

I just want to move my main from second place in my character list, to the top. This has been the issue for me ever since neltharion-deathwing merge (in 2016 I believe), when I reserved the name for one of my alts, it was put on top of the list, moving my main to second place.

I know this option is available in-game in Cataclysm+, but is there any way to do this on WotLK? Maybe if I remove the alt and then restore it, will it be back where it was, or will it appear at the bottom of the list? Anyway, if there is any way at all to fix this (without deleting my alt permanently), I would be very grateful for your help. I know this doesnt sound like a big issue to most, but it bothers me, its kind of an OCD thing I guess.

I get what you mean. I started posting my toon on the trade for a month before it returns to the account so my main is the first on the list.
If you decide to try out the delete+restore thingy do post results. I'll probably do the same if it works.
