Gearing for PVP

Hey, I am a total noob when it comes to gearing, but I am really good at playing the game... weird I know. I am a fresh 80 spamming BG's to try to get Savage gear, so then I can upgrade that, then upgrade that (I think this is right please correct if i am wrong). I then also have 25 donation coins, what is the best thing I could spend them on to help myself? Thank you so much in advance.

BiS weapon will probably help you the most. Especially for melee characters.

That is a (incomplete and often incorrect) list of BiS items for this phase, but the weapons are almost all correct.
