Hi there & welcome. Here are a few pointers.

    - Play on Lordaeron x1 --> slower leveling, thus better learning the game.
    - Playing with friends is awesome! Makes it a lot more fun!
    - Consider joining a guild!
    - Pick your faction (Alliance or Horde) purely based off lore and aesthetics. No need to worry about racials for a new player.
    - Some classes are definitely harder to master than others. I'd suggest focusing on your role first: Healer or Damage Dealer or Tank
    * Damage Dealers (aka "DPS") jsut go pew-pew
    * Tanks focus on absorbing damage.
    * Healers focus on keeping everyone alive.
    - If you decide to play as tank - focus your items with most "Stamina" - to gain health.
    - If you decide to go pew-pew, like warrior, rogue or other classes use weapons - focus on highest "damage per second" weapon. But stacking stamina is good if you question.
    - If you are healer or a caster (like mage, or warlock) - for early game, focus on stacking Intellect as much as possible. (Warlocks can do stamina too)
    - Druids are a great way to start the game. They can do all roles! - Tank / cat dps / caster dps / healer.
*Druid healers at early levels are (imho) easiest to heal with.
*Bear tanks are good too! Make sure to get "Glyph of Maul" item from Auction House (at level 15).

I wouldn't recommend leveling professions, as it can be expensive and time consuming. Just enjoy the game.
3.3.5 has Random Dungeon Finder tool (RDF) - available at level 15+. Get to level 18'ish, some good items and it is a good source of experience and items.

    Enjoy!
