On my lvl 35 gnome rogue I can not mount inside Ironforge. No errors appear and it looks like it summons the mount, but as soon as the summon is done I get the "mounted" icon and immediately it dissapears. I do not have any macros set up. If I go JUST outside IF I can mount without any issues and ride on my mount inside IF.
I can get around IF sure, but its very annoying that mount is not working. I see everyone else riding around.
Any clues?

Most likely because you are using a client with legion models. If you download wotlk(old) the problem should stop.

It is a bug caused by WoD/Legion models which affects gnome class mount while in a big city.
You can delete WoD/Legion models to solve the issue:
1. Open WoW folder
2. Open the Data folder.
3. Delete the patch-w.mpq file.
4. Delete the patch-x.mpq file
5. Open the enUS folder.
6. Delete the patch-enUS-w.mpq file.
7. Delete the patch-enUS-x.mpq file
