Hey, all.
I will try to write my thoughts in full detail, so that you would understand my case better. I would really appreciate your help, since I just received a somewhat general response from a GM, that didn't answer all of my questions.
Sometimes I am a forum lurker. I go on the forums to learn more about what's happening in the game. A couple of days ago I stumbled upon an interesting thread, where OP talked about an exploit in the midsummer dungeon event. They said, that standing on the cliff was seen as a bannable offence, because the players are able to dodge the spikes (which shouldn't be done). Fast forward to yesterday, when I was able to participate in this event. I entered this dungeon 4-5 times and people were always using this tactic. Since I didn't want to get reported for exploiting, I took my deserter debuff in all of those cases. But I wrote a ticket to the GMs asking them whether this was actually an exploit or a clever strategy. I also asked them how to report such cases and if I were to stay in such groups, but stand on the ground, whether I would get banned, because even though I wouldn't be abusing the exploit myself, I would still be benefiting from it (just indirectly).
The response I got earlier this day only regarded my second question. The GM told me about providing unedited screenshots, that have to be uploaded on imgur, and such youtube videos. Ok, cool. I can deduce from this reply, that the aforementioned case is punishable. But the GM didn't give me a clear answer what exactly I should screenshot - like, all people standing on the cliff or sth more? They also didn't answer the other important question - whether attacking on the ground but still staying in this group would mean benefiting from the exploit (just indirectly). I want to know whether I can participate in this event and claim my daily loot without any worries.
I hope you guys could clarify some things. If I have made a fool of myself, in case this strategy is indeed intended, so be it. If you think, it would be better to write another ticket, I will do so.
Thanks for reading!
