Have you visited class forums yet? You may find your answer there. It may require some digging, as the answer might be buried in the comment section of spec guides. If you can't get your answer by browsing comments, try warmane and google searches.

By pre-BiS, you mean purely by DPS increase? Or do you count other gear to it, or do you exclude halion drops? Just a full normal gear?

Without any proper thinking, I'll just throw this:
    PNL/CTS
DFO - SP/Affli (others if you know how to play to its proc)
Flare of Heavens - lasts usually until you get your 264/271 trinkets

    thx for the respond!

    1. I did searched all the class threads and apart from 1 or 2 commets that X trinket is good, i didnt see a priority list like i saw in mdps posts (like for rets).

    2. Its part of my question- how/when is it depends on my other gear?

    3. So do u mean PNL/CTS nm are better then DFO hc ? and for SPs?

    4. About the Flare of Heavens - is it better then the Vendor tinkets?

As with other gear in general, Trinkets really depend on your class stat priority - for example, DFO which is very un-recommended for fire mages due to it giving Haste instead of Crit. This is similar to DBW being not as good for rets due to its Arpen stat.

The second part of it is the proc - how it procs, and how strong the proc is. For example, Phylactery procs off DoT, so if your spec lacks DoTs (e.g. Arcane mage) then you don't want that. If you want to go deeper, then you also consider the uptime (proc magnitude * (duration/internal cooldown)). Spellpower-related stuff are generally the best, with instant procs favored over stacking effects.

Based on these two rules alone you would be able to rule out more than half of the listed trinkets.

And I'd personally place Flare to be roughly equal to (or somewhat better than) Muradin's Spyglass (NM) in performance.

I'd say they're about the same, class' stat weight is the deciding factor.

Flare of the Heavens grants 120 crit rating, 850sp proc for 10 seconds. The spellpower is about 187 as passive.
Muradin's Spyglass grants 131 crit rating 18 sp per stack, stacks up to 10. That's 180 sp as passive if you can keep the stacks up.

Yeah, the difference between them is pretty negligible

I guess it's just because from my (mainly) mage perspective, Flare's proc synergizes much better with stuff like Combustion/Hyperspeed Accelerator compared to Muradin's stacking type of bonus, which is why I prefer it over the 11 Crit difference.

But it also makes sense that other classes don't necessarily work that way, so there's that :P

    ok ty.

Is the Flare of Heavens better then the Purified Lunar Dust too?

  8. July 5, 2020
Purified Lunar Dust is a healer trinket, no point in wasting trinket proc on regen if you are DPS. And since first thing you buy for EoF is T10 set - by the time you have it and can use EoF on other stuff you will have better trinkets already for sure.

well sadly i have bad luck with my Fmage... and didnt win any good trinket except CTS.
so i bought Purified Lunar Dust - should I replace it with Flare of Heavens or Talisman of Resurgence?

    It's something like this:

Yeah, even 200ilvl trinket from TOC5 will be better than Lunar Dust for Fire mage, tough it can depend on overall gear and what content are you doing.

I suggest you delete GS addon and start using your head when you look at gear.

well thats the angry - wheres the lol? :)

  12. July 5, 2020
What I mean is that GS addon can not tell you what's good for you, you need to actually get stats your spec needs on gear. I don't mean anything demeaning. I understand that it's very convenient to just look at some number or wanting to get that number to go up since everyone in pug scene rely on it so much.

Actually you are already ahead of half of the population, concept of trading few hours of reading and asking questions to later raid like a boss for months and years - that's something lots of people don't grasp. I'm happy to see you asking quesstions.

If you don't have points for Flare, get Sundial of the Exiled instead! (Downgrade 40 Emblems of Triumph into Emblems of Heroism, and you can then buy it from the EoH vendor).

It's essentially a mini Flare of the Heavens/a Crit version of Abyssal Rune, and is ways better than Resurgence (Resurgence's use effect is slightly better compared to Flare proc, but 84 Crit rating >>> 128 Intellect).

Of course, if you do have the points, Flare is essentially the best item for a fire mage to get there by a long shot.
