1. 3.3.5 prot palas in outlands gear.

    Quick question.
While in outlands doing tanking or twinking for tbc (on Icecrown realm), does it still make sense to get spell power weapons? Or D3 paladin set for tanking (Stam/Intellect + Def raiting + Spell Power) or not at all?

  2. Yeah it does make sense. You get divine plea at level 71 I believe, so you'll be struggling for mana until you learn it. Spell power also increases your holy damage so more aggro. Although those are not the best stats, they are still a good choice if nothing else is available, especially if they have sockets.

  3. No, you should not be using Spell Power gear, even as a 70 twink.

    1) Gear with Def/Int/SP/Stam like the D3 set will only be found in TBC dungeons. Once you get to raids, all of the tank gear focuses on Str instead of SP, and using the remaining Holy gear is a terrible idea since it doesn't have Def/Hit/Expertise. Obviously using the D3 set is a bad idea since it has worse stats than raid gear.

    2) Most of your abilities scale equally with SP/AP, but Str gear gives both SP/AP (due to Touched by the Light) while SP gear only gives SP. Hammer of the Righteous (your main source of threat at 70) also only scales off of main-hand damage, and SP weapons have terrible damage.

That being said, roll a different class if you're serious about tanking as a 70 twink. Prot Paladins are probably the worst class at 70 because of mana/threat issues, but it's not impossible to tank (I've done a decent amount of it in the past).
