WotLK Pet management

so i made a hunter and I'm currently speccing into beast mastery for lvling up. bm heavily relies on pet and the thing is I'm having trouble controlling it. how should my pet maintain aggro. ik using growl helps but sometimes the mob targeted by my pet runs towards me and growl does nothing. is there a fix for this. and sometimes my pet would stop attacking my target. how to keep my pet attacking my target? thnx in advance.

You can wait a bit before attacking, so your pet builds a bit more aggro.
You can get pet like Turtle/Boar/etc with extra threat and taunt talents.
You can learn to slow/kite mobs when they come after you.
You can use Feign Death, later you will have Misdirect, but maybe you don't have level for that.
You can macro pet abilities for smoother use, you can find such info easily.

Get yourself a tenacity pet (these are the "tank" pets), use Feign Death if the mob gets aggro on you. Also when you get Misdirection skill (but you get that on quite high lvl if I remember correctly) you can use it on your pet to transfer your threat to it. If the mob gets on you anyway just run and shoot, slow it with Concussive shot and/or use frost trap.
