Hey, if I have gold and send it to my friend who has premium account, who then sells the gold for coins and gifts them to me, is that banable?

Not explicitly in the current rules here http://forum.warmane.com/showthread.php?t=65037
But bear in mind that if that friend decided not to gift the coins there is 0 support as you traded him willingly and he is not obligated to gift anything back as you're bypassing the premium limitation.
Might wanna wait for someone to confirm this to be sure.
