Why was the loot amount decreased?

It was always 2 items per boss, now it is just one item

I don't know where your "always" comes from, always in warmane or always in 3.3.5, because if its the latter is completely wrong. In retail back in the days those dropped 1 item per boss.

I confirm,back in the days was 1 item from normal boss,and 2 from last.

It's also made so you have to grind more heroics and such.
