Newbie Questions

Hello everyone, im new in server ( lvl 40 atm) i started with rogue but i have some questions about it, i google like a few player told me but the explanation of the skills in midle of Guides and images etc make it all confusing..

So since im also new in game, my questions are:

Combo points what is that and how do i make it work?
Dagger or sword?
i've seen Guides bulding different stuff for dagger and for sword, even the use of skills, so the combo of skills (according to the weapons that we use) what are the best combos of skills ( like order) ?
Gear should i worry ? I'm lvl 40 with some gear lvl 16 other 12 other 28 that i've been getting and buying from local shops ( auction prices are crazy ).

any tips what to do and what to build? i would say that i like PVE and i have to do it until lvl 80 or pretty close to it, but i want some pvp aswell, i've learned that normaly i'm always invisible, pickpocking or dealing damage...

Ok, so:
Combo point are very important, you should track them. The more combo points you have on your target, the more damage you will deal. Other abilities like slice and dice are affected to the duration, the more combo points, the buff lasts longer.
You can read each spell's tooltip to see what's affected by combo points.
For the weapons, you have 3 talent builds(asasination, combat, and subtlety, though subtlety is a pvp spec). Each specialisation uses different weapons.
Assasination uses only daggers, with a slow dagger in main hand and a fast dagger in off hand.
Combat uses mainly axes and swords, so you should search for that because you will benefit more from those kind of weapons due to weapons specialization. And you have to use a slow mainhand weapons with 2.6 speed and a fast offhand weapon with 1.4 or 1.5 speed.
Put instant poison on main hand and deadly poison on offhand.
Subtlety uses daggers, mostly.
About the gear, do not buy low lvl stuff from ah, quests will give you items that you can use.
About the combos and rotations, there are the guides which explin you better which spells to use, search for the rotations in the guides, on each specialisation.
As for PvE, you will want to play combat, cuz it has the most damage output and it brings a debuff that increases physical damage taken on the target.
There are much more things to be said, but with time you will get to know them.
Read guides, read tooltips on spells, read about leveling options.

ok i'm understanding a bit but i have like 110 energy i get invisible, i use ambush and other skills im out of energy how can i make them combos work?
im using daggers, didint know about the slow and fast one, i got newbie ones xD but i'll look for that...
im building assassination talent tree, and locking already gave me a few ingredientes to make poison stuff but still learning how to use it and spells aswell... but anyway thanks for the help i'll look for guides for this 3.3.5 patch <3

First of all, you buy the poisons that you are applying to the weapons. Near the rogue trainer, you have an npc that sells poisons, according to your lvl.
Regarding the weapons, slow and fast weapons are only used by combat spec.
You have abilities that generate combo points, and you have abilities that consume combo points, it's all written in each ability's tooltip.
For assasination, you have Mutilate for combo points generation.
For combat, you have Sinister Strike.
For Subtlety, being mostly a pvp spec, you have Ambush which is used from stealth only or when you have Shadowdance active. Then you have Backstab, which is your main combo points generating ability, together with Hemorrhage.
I know it's alot of info when starting first, but you will learn them in time..
