1. But the economy was healthy...

I'm sure this gets asked all the time but anyway...

At least on Lordaeron, prices have been doing fine. In fact, the price if Primos (which is the #1 indicator to me, as they're not really based on drop rates) had actually been going down slowly but surely until the announcement of the Gold Squish. The AH price was bottoming out at around 850g, you could get them in trade/global for around 800.

Now, because everyone knows half their gold will vanish soon, people are raising prices. Right now the cheapest Primo is 1049g. I've been on this server long enough to know they'll be over 2k before the squish happens. Then *squish* they'll be 1k, and will resume slowly dropping.

You're fixing a problem which did not exist, and by announcing it in advance you've actually created the inflation this is supposed to prevent. A hypothetical new player with 800g can no longer buy a Primo if they need one.

A gold squish should be done only as a response to inflation, and should never be announced until it's done. These things are hurting the economy, not helping it.

Savvy players will know what items to invest their gold in prior to the squish anyway to avoid most of its impact. Last year I kept about 85% of my gold. It's like insider trading, knowing in advance what's going to happen.

  2. "People with a lot of gold should be squished and people with less gold should be spared"
Lol the most communist answer I've read. Work hard and get punished. work less and be rewarded. Nah.
I didn't have to read past this point. You don't understand communism, entire response invalid.

  3. Saying that people don't understand communism is THE most communist thing there is.

  4. You're fixing a problem which did not exist, and by announcing it in advance you've actually created the inflation this is supposed to prevent.
Are you sure the "problem" (aka inflation) would not exist without the gold squish? I am not sure that the prices for Primos would stay at 800g for years.

A gold squish should be done only as a response to inflation, and should never be announced until it's done. These things are hurting the economy, not helping it.
Now this is an interesting point. Should warmane stop announcing gold squishes and just do them at random? Like 6-18 months after last squist. I would hurt poor people waiting for their first epic flying or thundra mammoth for sure :)

It's not like now it is any better. Work harder and you get noticed which means that boss thinks you can do more for the same time for the same wage. A perfect slavery system. And you can't compare Wow which is a game and a real life where not everybody has an opportunity to work for something or get rich.

I haven't been playing on Lordaeron for a very long time and have 3 "main" (if you can have more than one) characters between lvl 50-60 and about 10k gold on my account. While I can afford flying mounts and dual specs for all characters, 2 epic flying mounts or one high-end BOE item, it's only because I enjoy making gold and am not completely terrible at it. I don't see how this gold squish in its current form benefits people who're leveling and don't focus on making gold as much as I do, and will want to afford high-end gear or flying mounts. If Warmane claims it's for a healthier economy, then they should, with support of statistics, show what are the issues in current economy and how similar issues were resolved last year after the first squish.

  7. Gold squish? What gold? I have 21g om my main and only character, curently lvl 44 and still leveling. 😂

  8. As a person who plays Molten/Warmane since 2010 I am here to say that gold squishes are pointless. What we need are items squishes. Without item squishes the rich (me) will continue to be rich. https://imgur.com/a/gLZS2zB

Communist in your opinion. I could counter by saying you have no compassion for other people and only look out for yourself. There could be someone who works hard and just can't catch a break, i.e, have things swing a little his way, and he doesn't quite get the jackpot that everyone else does when working hard. **** happens mate, not everything is always black & white in the sense that "if you work hard, you'll get rewarded by being wealthy." There's been tons of instances IRL in which a person worked hard their entire life and still struggled throughout all of it until death. This is a typical response from the type of person who doesn't think about others and what they're going through and only cares about themselves.

As for everyone else' responses to my comment, I understand your point of view. Nice counter-arguments have been made. Duly noted, but let's just agree to disagree at this point.

True, but don't forget that comparing IRL situations and economy to a virtual world with no restrictions where everyone is given the exact same amount of resources is not always a wise decision. I don't know if Imperiet's comment was meant to be understood within only the premises of wow, or the real world as well. Your thoughts on how things usually go IRL is true and one can only hope to be the lucky one to make big, learning, dedication and hard work is not always enough as we seen it many many times. It depends on countless factors and has so many variables that enitre books in sociology have been written about it.

Anyways, in wow's world anyone who has more than 2 braincells and does not give up after the first few failures can legit do whatever he wants. Farming for 1 hour in an equally-crowded zone ( pvp does not matter, it's hardly a factor in the long run ) for the same resource is going to give very similar results regardless of who does it. What you do with your grinded money however is the game changer here. Don't spend it as soon as you get it and wait until you gather up some capital, then it's up to you what you want to invest in and how much risk you are willing to take.

Ironically, Imperiet, this system is pretty close to socialism, or communism as you called it. Communism involves creating an 'equal society' through an authoritarian state, which denies basic liberties and is pretty much non-existent in a game so let's just call it socialism, but we all know that if we fall down the rabbit hole with this topic we won't be able to climb out and this thread becomes a chaotic hell where everyone's barking at each other for not knowing what the other THINKS he knows.

    Just my two cents

I agree, keep in mind that for them it is easier and faster to halve the golds, no matter if you have 1 gold or 100k.

Your time will be halved and in auction you will always see crazy prices!

  12. idk, but compound interest is....

basically doing daily rdf hc, gives you 100g,2 eofs, and few eots, + if we control wg it gives you stone keeper shards, which are really good, for turning them to honor and honor to gems or idk gear..

multiple this with 4-5 chars, lets say, happens that you have an enchanter in the group, you won an item, epic item, you abyss crystal or maybe win frozen orb..

AND BONUS: you should always try to queue as tank+dps or healer+ dps, never single dps, takes ages, i do this daily, instant pop.

Like, my dk and pala, i made them in such a way, tank specced + some dps gear, that i can basically solo all instance even HOR lool, its soo easy, like really.

the problem is not making gold, thats easy, the problem is MAKING MORE AND MORE GOLD, because gold right now is cheap, i had to sell 150k-200k twice for a price of 40 coins or so, coz no one buys, its really cheap, so for those complaining

Just do rdfs, easy gold, or questing,

  13. Gold halving is applied to everyone and not only to those at level 80, but also to lower level players who have much less gold.
During the levelling phase it's necessary to have enough gold for training or professions or to buy some necessary items/materials.

So, your idiocy when you suggest doing rdf and other nonsense thing has no value.

Oh no, you will have to sell 4 copper ores instead 2 to be set for for 60 levels. What an impact the squish is while you are leveling, oh my oh my

  15. not realy people will out rage anyway best to do it like a splinter just rip it out
