1. What gets you permabanned here?

I just saw an account getting permanently banned for racism. Others for botting. What exactly gets you permanently banned on this server? Rules don't mention it.

  2. Perma ban for racism seems a bit excessive. Most people who gets banned for it merely makes satirical comments or troll global chat during low server hour just for a laugh. Most people that write racist comments are usually not racists, a lot of times its simply out of anger to throw an insult they hope will stick during the passion of the moment. The internet merely brings these type of behaviour altogether out from people and it shouldnt be too enforced. A week ban seems fair, but perma?

Regarding the "most aren't racists," our stance has always been "don't joke about something against the rules, you will be treated as being serious no matter what if you get reported." We can't know who's just joking and our time is better spent on other things than trying to find out. So, if you don't want to risk someone reporting you, just don't do it.

Bans also can have their duration increased based on the situation or re-incidence. Saying one or two racist things would get you the base ban, but if you push it way too far it can be increased, just like being banned for the same thing multiple times does. If someone is repeatedly getting banned for the same thing and showing no sign that they have learned their lesson, or is so way over the top about it to the point it's deemed we have no interest in keeping that person in our servers, the ban can yes be a permanent one.

  4. Perma ban for racism happens after like 4 racism bans on the same account.
Perma bans are issued to bots and after like 3rd or 4th offense on all other rules.

As much as I respect Warmane for its rules and policies, I would still like to argue for my point of view, just for the sake of argument and maybe a bit of transparency. If someone is online almost every single day for the week, for years, that person will be bound to break these social norm rules every now and then, not because of being purposely unruly against your policies or out of inherited personal malice towards players of a different ethnicity, but just the nature of the online culture and human behaviour. With enough days gone by, this person might be subjected to 4 bans of racism even tho the person behaved well the other days of the year. Some of us find it hard to have strict norms enforced on us even irl.
What im trying to reason is that many times we have satirical humor (South park and family guy are both beloved shows for a reason) that can be extremely hard to ignore even when we are aware (and fully accept) the possible consequences of punishment, and many times the passion of the moment from typical anonymous aggression online gets the better of us. The satirical humor cannot be overstated, especially during low server hours. Many players would confess that a derailed 3 AM global chat is half the reason they even play on Warmane.

Again, a punishment should be enforced, but online capital punishment?

Bans aren't just a punishment, but a wake up call for you to not do it again. If you repeatedly show inability to not break one rule, yes, you'll eventually not be wanted here anymore. You speak about human nature and behavior, but one trait of those is learning from your mistakes to not repeat them.

In the april fools' thread there were member(s) of the staff laughing at the online PC culture, and then they ban you for "racism"

Nuance is hard to grasp, I get it.
