Every private server has different spawn rates and locations for nodes. For example, there was a private server I played on years ago where mithril nodes spawned in bunches in the archeological spot in Thousand Needles. Google won't help in this case because it only has information that derives from retail. Plus, I don't need to Google it because I have played this game for 17 years but it doesn't seem that mithril isn't in all the places it is supposed to be.

The best place is the auction house because farming them is never, ever time efficient. Leave that to the stupid peasants and just buy it from the auction house. Its rarely worth it to farm something yourself.
