In search of miracle

Greetings,
I currently started to play wow and this server has been reccomended by my friends as good start point.
I´m kind of ashamed to even ask, but im looking for advice on class.
Im not here for advice what is dealing more dmg or what is "op".
What im looking for is kinda specific for me as player.
Is there any class that resembles of summoner? Like having a permanent summon that i can support (heal,buff, etc.), some debuffs for enemy will be perfect, and one thing is really needed. It has to be "Ranged" that is sturdy and hard to kill (mobility is something i dont need).

Is there something like that? I doesnt play World of Warcraft before and dont want to spoil my fun by searching for information on internet by myself.
Best way is to learn on the fly and experience it by myself. But Summoner is my soul character in RPGs.

Closest thing to what you're looking for is either a Demonology Warlock or Beast Mastery Hunter. They aren't sturdy but they're both ranged and focused on a pet/summoned demon to deal damage.
