1. Ping is 100+ ms higher than it used to be, please help

I live in Asia so I accept that my ping will always be high but when I started playing here in October up until about a month ago my ping would generally be from 180 to 220ms. Bad but still borderline playable for a melee class. Now my ping is always around 300ms. It is now unplayable for me in PVP.

I would really appreciate any help.

Here is the traceroute I get, with ping significantly lower than my in-game ping now:

traceroute to logon.warmane.com (51.178.64.97), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets

  2. Talk to your ISP, not to random ppl on the internet.

  3. Okay but not all randoms are like you, some people are actually helpful. Are there any helpful people here?

You'll need to contact your ISP and ask why there's drastic difference to ping. Considering it's almost doubled, it's either ISP, or your own network load is impacted by something (e.g. Netflix, other streaming services etc.).

  5. They've said that nothing has changed on their end. But clearly something is happening in between. Is there any way for me to shape how it gets routed?

  6. Same here, became literally unplayable. Used to get 120 to 140 ms on average, but now, it's up to 360 and more. No one's giving out answers. Before anyone chimes in, yes, I've already contacted my ISP and everyone else who are experiencing the same issue already have. Could someone from the official server team shed some light on this?

  7. My ping is actually better now.

  8. My ping seems to be normal.

Have you checked what methods google offers to fix ping?

There's nothing we can do if ISPs or the routes they use to reach our servers are having issues. The servers are up and running, this increased ping is affecting just a select number of players, and people aren't outright being blocked from connecting, so there's no indication of it being something that could be changed on our side.

  10. ... Are there any helpful people here?
I'm sorry, I didn't know you were expecting a 69-page dissertation on how your ISP and your traffic routing work by, again, random people on the internet. Telling you to talk to your ISP is the first thing one would do because they are the people who should know what's going on with your connection. And if they're raising their hands and saying "no bro we no touchy touchy anything", then the problem is likely somewhere out of your, your ISP's or warmane's reach. Best anyone here can do is, again, tell you to talk to your ISP or meme about turning something off and on again. It's just sad most people are too snowflaky to understand that they don't always ask their question where they should.

  11. OVH will most likely ignore you if you are not a client. And no way you are going to be able to talk to someone from your ISP who even knows what routing is. My opinion is that there is nothing that you can do. Get a (paid) VPN.

Nobody's going to read this, we can all see exactly what you are and what you're doing here.

Thanks. So a VPN *will* address this?

  14. This is the sort of thing that on most cases is temporary. Intermediate points in the routes get fixed or routing tables get updated to a better one, etc. A VPN should help if the matter are the routes, but if you're really going with that I'd use the trial period most offer just to be sure.
