How active is Frostmourne (read inside)

I played season 1 and start of season 2 and then stopped to play some TBC, but TBC was very very boring and tedious.

I was thinking of returning to Frostmourne...

Has anything changed since I stopped playing?
How active is the server (when I left for TBC I checked and it was barren, everyone swapped to TBC Classic)?

it is hard to say "how it is now", it is just the first day.

By looking at Homepage numbers it shows 12k + queue, which is a good start but even for "Season1" it was like that initially

Agree, which side is better for pve? I remember Alliance had 0 pug raids, only guilds.
I wasn't able to make raids on Alliance side at all.
So which side is better for succesful pug raids at the moment?

Generally speaking Horde should be better for a PvE player
