The player using the character used inapropiate language against their party members, called us "stupid monkeys" because we didn't vote to kick him after he got us killed.

Use ignore feature.
If they demand kick (avoid deserter) and proceed to AFK, report them. They'll get few days to cool off.

I've actually reported him by in game ticket and the GM told me that I should create a thread on the forum

GM would never tell you to make stupid forum post, they are dealing only with in-game situations, just like staff here deals only with forum/account related problems. And if you get offended so hard (that run to create all possible tickets/reports/posts) by few words which ain't even slur, probably MMO experience is not for you...
