WotLK Important: How are you supposed to do escort quests as a group?

Big problem here: I play WoW with a friend and whenever we do escort quests, only 1 of us can accept them, then the quest starts and the other player cannot accept them and gets no reward. I once saw a guy in a dungeon give me a prompt to accept an escort quest, but how the hell did he do it? How do you do escort quests as a group?

Both of you must be on same stage of quest, nothing more. And stay close just in case.
