accidently equiped a good item, now im in this piece of **** blackrock bracket in rbgs where everyone has 1200 resi. an guide somewhere what to not equip?

I'm new too and a friend also equipped a good item and ended up with full stuff in bg... I up the subject if anyone can answer?
Can we buy a good item without having equipped it once, or does the simple act of buying it automatically put us into HL bgs?

Just having it even if it's in bank puts you in the higher bracket.
