1. There's nothing wrong with being a multiboxer though, we're not breaking any rules as long as we're not PvPing or using third party apps.
It's not the end of the world, but it's going to make login in a bit more cumberstone. I really hope they'll give us the opportunity to turn it off.
I guess I'll have to use an authenticator for all accounts, because I'm pretty sure the e-mail system is going to fail on multiple occasions like it does for every other service.

  2. Thousands of ppl are going to loose access to their accounts, they will return to play and try to login and realize they dont have the old gmails. This and even gmail itself is a nightmare for ppl with dynamic IP's or those who need to use VPN's or ppl without cell phones, they also delete for inactivity and often ppl cant create a new gmail account unless they use a VPN or something lol.

The reality will be a culling of ppl that dont have a current working email for all their accounts, maybe a process with Im guessing a backlog and potential scams involved when dropped to change their emails over. Im all for security and personally dont have issues with it, but many in the community will.
Google is going to start deleting accounts that's been inactive for two years in December 2023, so most likely this is going to be a huge issue for returning players.
I just made sure to log into all of my google accounts to make sure I don't fall into that trap, but I also use my accounts for other stuff than just warmane, so I don't really think it'd be an issue for me.

  3. yo srsly my acc is from 2015 and ofc i dont have access
to my email i dont even know what my password is ..

I'd just create a new gmail and change e-mail address under account settings then. You've still got a day to do it.

  5. Very good change. No more account sharing noobs.

  6. I always use 2FA to secure my account where this feature is provided. I feel calmer this way.
I am glad about this new solution for account security because it will lead to the collapse (or at least cause great damage) to the industry of bots, gold sellers and stolen accounts, for some reason none of those who complained about this innovation on the previous pages of this topic , didn’t even think about what/whom Warmane made such a tough decision against. Guys, sometimes it seems to me that some people were born with jelly instead of a brain when I look at these negative comments in this thread.
I saw only one guy in this thread who really understands the meaning of this security decision (@LezChap1) and not a single soul except him wrote something like that, and an interesting note after he wrote that these measures will shock goldsellers and bots, the moderator answered him with the text “Curious, isn’t it?” , as if indirectly confirming my words written above, and I unrealistically support the administration in this decision on account security. People don’t even understand that they should have taken their accounts seriously from the very beginning instead of registering a random Google account through an account generator and forgetting about it for the rest of their lives. Damn it, at least write down the data from the email that you created ONLY FOR your Warmane account on a piece of paper/notepad in your phone. Since WoW is a game where you spend HUNDREDS of hours developing your character, has it ever occurred to you how frustrating it would be to lose those characters? Have you ever thought that you might somehow lose access to your account and have to restore access? And now you yourself see the result of your careless attitude towards the data of your accounts, you will be extremely upset to lose all those hundreds of hours of play on your characters, but at the same time you absolutely did not give a damn about organizing security for these very characters on which you spent hundreds hours, you guys look like laughingstock from the outside, blaming the administration for their decision to clear the server (or at least cause huge damage to them) from bots/gold-coin-sellers and from stolen accounts.
I also saw a message from the moderator that one guy in this thread wrote from different accounts to justify himself (lol), I wouldn’t be surprised if a large number of those who speak very negatively about this security solution are those who work in the goldselling industry / botting and uses stolen accounts for this, which obviously they will not be able to log into after this update. (These are just my thoughts. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone.)
    In general, I will summarize:
I’m very happy with the new solution and just wanted to leave my feedback on this from people like Me, @Seshollowaterboy and @LezChap1 (I don’t know these people, I just can’t believe that there are SO few people who understand why this is being done and that’s why I decided to note them )

Yeah, I multibox too and I posted earlier in the thread asking them to clarify our options. I ended up setting up the Google authenticator on five accounts. Only took 2-3 minutes per account and works well.

I'm probably just going to use google authenticator too, my only issue is that I already use it for some other accounts not related to WoW (options trading), and it's going to clutter it up a bit. Not the end of the world, but since I usually play in periods and not all the time like most of us do I guess, it's going to be cluttering it up for no reason most of the time.
I guess I'll just use email authentication and wait using the authenticator when I really start playing a lot again, might have a go at the onyxia server when it goes live I think.

  9. I know inactive Gmail accounts will be deleted starting december 2023 and who has a problem with email pass how will he receive the code for login.
I will not comment on anything until I see how it will work in 2 days.Maybe this will increase security but at the cost of the players population. We'll see.

I don't think that this will matter that much for gold farming and sellers, at most it'll be an inconvenience where they'll have to spend a little more time on making throwaway gmail accounts and authenticators. I don't know how big an issue stolen accounts is though, I only know about one guy ever having his account stolen (official blizzard one though), and I think he was able to recover it and getting back the items that were stolen (I remember giving him a shadowfang when I quit playing retail that was stolen). Afaik gold farmers and sellers don't use stolen accounts, but I must admit it's not my main field of expertise, I've never been gold farming.

Probably should sort their things out then. And I don't know, maybe try to remember the emails and passwords they use..

I reinstalled windows on my computer yesterday, and I have my passwords stored in firefox. Probably over a year since I did a windowd reinstall. So when I was logging into one of the private trackers I use, I had completely forgotten the password, and even which e-mail I had registered it with. Took a while finding it out, but then again I was stupid for not noting down the password before I wiped my disk. My guess is that's it's like this for a lot of people, forgetting passwords because they're stored in their browsers.

  13. At this point I'll just wait and see... My accounts are safe. God, I want to be wrong, I really I am. But this move is a bad call, if done. This changes should be at least give the playerbase 2-3 weeks to try solving their issues before this goes online and gets a lot of people by surprise. But **** me right?! I'm a programmer too, I've seen some harmless changes turn into deep ****s pretty quick. But who knows... it's not a question of security or not only. It a question of how many players are they prepared to lose in case this causes the problems we are seeing here pointed out. Everyone here works in their field and knows somethings, but one "specialist" opinion worth nothing sometimes.

  14. I'm not bothered by the security check at all. I'm baffled of how sudden this was and they are moving forward with this since their contingency plan is not optimized at all it will create a bigger problem, and I guarantee it will, at least in the transition, the sheer amount of requests in the support email will be ridiculous and they will have a constant demand for that for many months to come, a lower demand than the launch obviously, but it's still another demand you're creating.

  15. My guess is that they had just a short 3 days after announcement to either catch gold farmers and the like off guard, and will be less lenient letting obvious gold farmers recover their accounts. Or maybe they had a sudden data leak or something and want people to use two factor authentication before accounts are stolen en masse or something, though afaik they haven't mentioned anything about a data leak. This is all speculation I guess, though it's pretty odd that there's just a three day warning for something that'll cause so much friction and issues. A professional company would've given at least a half a year warning for something like this.
