1. Fun new shadow spec best for PvP

    Hello all,

This spec makes you strong. It is simple. But you have to reimagine how shadow priest is.

Instead of casting Vampiric Touch and dying quickly, I invite you to imagine a shadow priest that just casts Mind Flay and is very tanky and survivable.

    Here is the talents: https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/talent...32012231120231

This talent specialization is a hybrid between Shadow and Discipline. 39/0/32

This spec sacrifices Dispersion. This might sound counterproductive, however I think you will agree upon reflection that Dispersion is a terrible spell.

Instead of Dispersion, we go into Discipline for a high amount of passive damage resistance and Power Infusion.

Shadowform reduces damage taken by 15%. Focused Will reduces damage taken by 12%. Renewed hope reduces damage taken by 3%. 1300+ resilience reduce damage by 27%. Use 2/5 Satin 2/5 Mooncloth set bonus to gain extra resillience to add onto this. This spec benefits from crit and spirit.

In total, you get 57%+ damage reduction when enemies are attacking you. You also have armor to add onto this, reducing physical damage by 33% (with inner fire glyph).

With this spec. you have strong defense that does not require GCDs. You just reduce damage A LOT. This is complemented by 15% increased self heals by Focused Will, better Power Word Shield, better Power Word Fortitude. Your tankiness lets you focus on Mana Burns, or Mind Flays, or dispels, or off heals. You survive easily to your second fear, which is when you are winning the fight.

    -----
    GLYPHS
    1. Improved Renew
    2. Power Word: Shield
    3: Inner Fire

The goal of this spec is to increase your HP pool and always be able to recover easily. You take all the talents and glyphs that reduce damage and increase self healing. That is renew glyph, bubble glyph, inner fire glyph. That is talents into stamina buff, talents into Renewed Hope, talents into Focused Power, talents into Focused Will, etc. Discipline gives you the protection that you need, while deep shadow provides much weaker protection.

When it is time to heal, you have 3x Focused Will activated so your heals are 15% more effective, and you have a Martyrdom activated, so your casting is not knocked back at all. You have 12% damage reduction so you are tanky when you try to offheal.

Under pressure, you cast Lifeblood (herbalism) and Renew, and Prayer of Mending. This uses 2 GCDs, and applies two very strong HoT's and a burst heal that benefit from Focused Will being active. This allows you to return to shadowform and regain the 15% damage reduction that shadowform gives, and channel mind flay again while the HoT heals tick. Channel Mind Flays to pressure/gain vampiric health, and if they kick you, cast heals, and if they don't kick you, you are doing OK.

In high pressure, you use Bauble of Blood trinket. This trinket has the heal also increased by 15% because of Focused Will.

Martyrdom allows you to cast without knockbacks 100% on both schools, holy and shadow. This talent allows for a flexible transition between tanky shadow and recovery off-healing. The strategy is to channel Mind Flay, and if they kick, cast heals. Your healing casts are very strong because the enemy kick is on cooldown, and you have 100% protection against knockbacks.

Power infusion is much better spell to have than Dispersion. Dispersion trades poorly with every class. Druids cyclone you. Warlocks fear you. Warriors save their damage. Paladin uses wings go through dispersion. Priests dispel you. Hunters don't care. On the other side, Power Infusion is strong against every class, because it can be used in many ways, in different ways against every class.

Power Infusion gives you strategies versus classes that destroy you, like warrior. Just use Power Infusion, and spam Devouring Plague. Or use Power Infusion and spam offensive dispels on a paladin. Or use Power Infusion and Mana Burn talent to drain a healer's mana in the BG. Or use Power Infusion to save a teammate you need to be alive. Or use Power Infusion when your spell power trinket procs and spam mind flays to burst. With 6% haste from "Enlightenment" talent, your Power Infusion mind flay channel is half a second, getting damage out very fast. Power Infusion is also a mana talent, reducing mana costs by 20%.

Deep shadow talents are very bad. Psychic Horror is OK, but it has too long a cooldown of 2 minutes. Twisted Faith is garbage because you never channel Mind Flay, and Shadow Word: Pain gets dispelled all the time. Pain and Suffering is bad, because shadow word always gets dispelled. Misery is bad, because you're never channeling Mind Flay with deep shadow spec. Vampiric Touch is bad because it gets dispelled, and it is not a good investment when you factor in the risk of getting kicked, and doing 0 damage. At least when you get kicked during Mind Flay, you hit 1400 damage on the first tick. The only good spell we lose from sacrificing the deep shadow talents is Fade.

Our main spell in this spec is mind flay.

Mind Flay does immediate damage, turns you towards enemies so they can never be behind you, slows enemies, and channels through walls, and activates Spirit Tap, which gives you very high mana regeneration in combat. I use Bauble trinket and Solace of Defeated. This means 400 mana regeneration. When Mind Flay crits, I increase to 600 mana regeneration. When I kill an enemy, or a pet, I get 1200 mana regeneration.

You do not have mana problems because Spirit Tap regens mana very fast (especially when you kill enemies), Power Infusion reduces mana costs by 20% when you really commit to a fight, and your go-to spell is Mind Flay which is very low mana cost. You also have Rapture talent, which gives you a lot of mana when your bubble breaks (including when you shield teammates). You truly only use Shadowfiend when you want to use it, not because you need mana. You have better mana than deep shadow spec in BGs. Try to score the killing blow on emenies for 14seconds of massive mana regeneration while casting.

Admit it. Shadow priest is terrible in the WOTLK meta. Dispersion trades TERRIBLY with enemy spells. Vampiric Touch is dispelled with no punishment by the numerous holy pallies on the server. Try something new. You won't regret this spec. Just make sure you have the 1300+ resillience to play.

Draenei is a good race for this spec, as the racial heal pairs well with the increased 15% healing effects from Focused Will, and the extra resillience from Medallion of the Alliance trinket pairs well with the strategy of tankiness.
