1. The fact that people honestly believe that people wouldn't be farming in the same fashion with #nochanges leads me to believe that there is much to be desired about how the vanilla pvp system worked. Why the hell do you think Blizzard made the changes they did to it? Furthermore, do you also honestly believe that similar wouldn't happen despite changes? Because for evidence otherwise, all you need to look at are the other realms.
If we would have used the original honor system of vanilla you would not see the deathballs in AV, BGs would actually have been played properly, with premades. Yes of course, the top players would make a little system to not go over X amount of honor each week to make sure they all rank up at the same time. It would be much better than the HK system we have in place now.

    Lessons learned:
Making a HK system sounds good on paper but in reality you get people feeding each other in AV.

What could be have been changed?:

The original honor system has major flaws ofc, but it could have been tweaked with removing the amount of honor needed to rank up in total. That way you would see more balanced BG / PVP activity.

This still would not stop the small population that would "abuse" the honor system by all not exceeding a certain amount of honor, but that's much less abuse compared to what is happening now.

  2. The name of the game is HKs, so people will get HKs and they will make it efficient.
The system could have been fixed by now with endless solutions such as HK cap per player per hour,
The "HK system" -> Blizzard's vanilla design.
The main difference is that those people would have to KEEP farming to maintain their ranks. Whereas here, they can farm the amount they need, then quit and keep their stuff.
Seems to me you have an issue with vanilla design at a fundamental level, upon which, the best course of action would be to *not play vanilla* rather than overhaul it into something completely different.

    equipment degradation at death,
Punish people that are getting farmed? What?

You think this would prevent you getting farmed in WSG, or any other BG for that matter?

awarding HKs for completing goals in AV,
People barely bother with objectives in later expansions when you net more honor from winning the BG than losing. Think this would change anything aside from opening up a system for abuse?

going back to a honor system etc.
    "going back to"?
Vanilla is as far back as you can go.

I honestly believe the people making these arguments don't really understand the system, why it is in place the way that it is, or the "suggestions" are just being made in bad faith for the sake of complaining about something. You clearly don't like the Vanilla system, so why you signed up to play it and then complain about it makes no sense to me.

  3. The original honor system has major flaws ofc, but it could have been tweaked with removing the amount of honor needed to rank up in total. That way you would see more balanced BG / PVP activity.
That's not an acceptable delivery of the Vanilla experience, though. And that's all there is to it.
The rest is speculation from you, and the behaviors we've observed here and in the past tell a different story.
