How to obtain epic gear at level 80?

Hi, new player here, just hit 80 and wondering how to obtain better gear?
The only way I can see is gather emblems of triumph and buy gear from vendor in Dalaran.
But that way I can get ony 2 emblems per day from WOTL Random Dungeon. I'm not eligible for Heroics yet.
So that's the only way? Am I missing something?

These links are ...dead + outdated guides. for example doing ICC rep runs you need actual 4.5-5k gs or else they won't let you in...

As a fresh 80, i would go explore the world or try to reach 1k (1000) achievements as soon as possible. why ? for votepoints. (website, account page)
then while you grind for vps so you can buy your first wep ilvl 239, go do some pvp (wintergrasp) and get some decent gear. (furious gearset)
now you have a decent char you can go FoS PoS and find a group, do some battlegrounds, even rdf HC if you want. all that for basically nothing. no gold needed.
