What realm? Have you checked in-game or in the website?

If you aren't premium and haven't played in a while your character will have lost its name but it should still exist unless your account was hacked.

Frostmourne characters that weren't transferred to Icecrown are gone.

Not anymore. Players had a whole year until the following season ended to make the transfer.
