Pandaria Tanking Guidelines

Hi! I’m creating this post to make some sort of a compilation of “tips” to tank different bosses along the raids on MoP.

Why? Tanking is a very important job in a raid group. Having a decent tank is 40% of success. Every experienced tank who wants to help can add some tanking exclusive tips about bosses, and I’ll update every boss. I'd like to keep this thread community-made, from all of your posts.

Please, if it’s a class-specific tip, make sure to mention it!

What specific stuff could you help with?

Positioning, spells preferences, well-timed-taunts (number of stacks of a certain debuff on the other tank you should taunt at), when to face some specific point, when to kite, when to use cooldowns, or just any tactic or tip you want to share!

Protectors of the Endless

Here you will need 2 tanks. One will get Protector Kaolan away from the raid and pretty much tank and spank it there for a while.

The other tank will get the other 2 bosses and aggro them while your dps do the job. Move them from the little circles they spawn on the floor (it heals them up considerably. Ask your raid members to dispell it)

Once the 2 guys are down, it's time to go for protector Kaolan. It will cast from time to time a spell named Expel corruption, which creates a wide area dealing damage, so you need to move while aggroing away from that circle (round-shaped) and keep tanking, moving in a circle along the edges of the platform, until he's dead.

Tsulong

2 tanks needed too. The first tank will get Tsulong and face it away from the raid, the other tank should stay close, on a side. Tanks MUST switch on each Shadow Breath, as it increases shadow damage taken a lot. The "new" tank MUST taunt facing Tsulong away from the raid.

On phase 2, a tank should get the big Add and the other the small adds that spawn. If you can't complete the boss on a first attempt, just repeat.

When you're taunted off shadow breath, you should go to the light beam and clear your debuff stacks to minimize the damage taken and make your healer's life easier.

Lei Shi

As a tank you're most likely facing Lei shi away from the raid, and away from the other tank. You should position yourself always away from the raid and being sure you don't have anyone close to you, since the boss will be casting "Spray" on you and it's an AoE spell (tiny, but AoE)

Tanks should switch at around 7-9 stacks of spray, and avoid getting hit by spray again in order to lose the debuff.

Sha of Fear

Pretty much tank and spank. You just get in front of Sha, and stay in a little circle that lays on the floor.
