You have attack and auto attack in your spellbook, does it matter which is used?
what about replacing the first line with
/cast Auto Attack

Your macro is fine.
Maybe you enabled the "stop auto attack" option?
This option will stop auto attacks whenever you switch target.
Also, the problem might be due to /stopcasting commands in other macros. These will also interrupt ranged auto attacks
This is also the reason why people write stopcasting twice in their macros(Most people don't know this)
The first /stopcasting will stop your auto-attack and the second will stop your current cast
If the error persists, try relogging, since sometimes you get this unexplainable error(happened to me once)
