PSA: It is not OK to need roll on items for disenchanting without permission!

I've seen this a lot recently, and I know this is not likely something to get any attention by the offending party, but I figured I'd post this anyway, just in case someone is not clear on this.

When you need roll, this means you need the item to equip it for better stats for your current spec. Not the shard or dust or other material that comes from it when you disenchant it.

Unless your group gives you permission to do so, you should not need roll on anything you do not need to equip for your spec. This is bad manners, inconsiderate, and likely to get people to treat you the same way or worse.

Here's an example situation: You are a rogue/druid/warrior/hunter, and you convince yourself it is perfectly fine to take items from the rest of your group for your own enchanting needs, and then the item you've been farming for weeks drops, like a coveted ARP trinket. Then the mage need rolls on it because you've been taking all the items he wanted. Guess what, no trinket for you, because you were an ***, so you got treated like one. :)

So in closing, I know I'm probably going to get flamed for trying to teach manners and common courtesy on the internet, but to the people who do this kind of crap, STAHP IT.

It's the other way around, either make need rols MS need rolls or you can need on all items you do actually NEED.

And the point of this thread is? It's like saying: "PSA: You need to breathe or you'll die".

I see this thread as a QQ thread... Just close it :P No point in opening threads like this!

As I see it, clicking need for Items to work on your professions is just as important as needing for items to equip. If another person needs said item they should click need and hope they get a better roll. At the same time if you're needing for items to disenchant at least need on gear that is for your class to do it. But really how would you know if someone disenchanted an item that was needed when they don't equip it til after the run? Oh wait you wouldn't know ;)

I feel you, spazmo. I've lost some BoE blues from greedy enchanters but I haven't encountered ones who need-roll in high-end raids. Most of them do it in dungeons, OS, Naxx, and ToC normal to some extent.

This is why setting loot rules before a raid is very important. If it hasn't been mentioned or someone breaks it, you have the right to flag his as ninja (although you can't report him).

At the same time, you can't force people to equip it because simply that's not how you treat raid members.

It rings a bell that all of us, including victims, have become too gear-obsessed, and that kind of attitude has been ruining raids in ages. I've seen so many of them fall.

Idk about anyone else, but with Raids you need to be focused on the Raid itself instead of worrying about equipping a new piece of gear you can equip that is better even if there is a break between bosses **** can happen especially in private servers. I mean say in between a boss and after you cleared some mobs lets say some huntard decides to pull more mobs in the raid or even the boss and cause 1 person is to focused on the gear on trying to equip it and they panic they could end up causing a wipe. I doubt this would happen but it is still a possibility.

There is a reason why Blizzard made Disenchant button, it is also in the same row as Greed button which means these 2 options are for lets say money making - enchanting materials for profession profit, greed for vendoring/selling in AH to get some gold.
Need button is for gear itself, which should be higher priority than Greed/Disenchant, people should NOT Need instead of Disenchanting and Greed.
If you see anyone in party Needing for Disenchanting or Greed, just kick them out or tell everyone to Need also for every item.

Pretty much that.

If someone needs on an item so they can disenchant it, I start need rolling so I can vendor it. I 'need' gold.

Just cause 2 buttons side by side doesn't make the Disenchant Button on equal level as Greed, I mean really lets think about this, what button is under Disenchant? Oh right the Cancel/Decline button which is next to need. Kind of making that logic pretty terrible.

The cancel button is actually to the top right, distanced away from the rest of the buttons. And mechanically speaking, Disenchant and Greed do compete with each other. That is how it was designed and implemented.

Then what do you call the Red Crossed Out Circle button right under disenchant?

What does that even have to do with anything anyway?
